Classroom modification and beautification have been a top priority in

the learning system over the past decades. It has been proven that classroom
environment greatly affects the academic performance of students in
different aspects. According to Kochenderfer-Ladd & Pelletier (2008),
effective classroom environment is playing a vital role in strengthening
instructional process and makes learning more productive, effective and
successful. Televisions, personal computers and, other technological
equipment are among the most notable physical changes in the classroom
setting today, chairs are replaced with moveable ones that encourages
collaborative learning among students, and classroom size and configuration
promotes the increase of learning especially, for high-risk learners.
According to Steve and Richard (2013), when a student first steps into a
room they will make a judgement about the type of class they are going to
be taking. Students will notice what’s hanging on the wall, how desks are
arranged, the way their teacher set ups their class and so on.
Teachers vary on how they manage their classroom but little is known
regarding the relationship between classroom environment styles and
students’ outcomes (Brannon, 2010). Thus, this study will be conducted to
investigate the effect of physical environment of the classroom to the
academic performance of students. This study will be helpful to the
institution, especially to the teachers and students to determine the
relationship between classroom physical environment and academic
performance as basis for future improvements.
