English Exercise #3

Five Functions of Language are:

Informational Function Language

-shown in the picture is that the speaker is giving instructions which the receiver was gladly listening. This
propose that a shared information or the action performs that adds emphasis to the information

Expressive Function Language

-the given picture speaks for itself. The shown or feeling that is expressed on the picture was
distress or misconception about something. The expressive function completely relies to the
speaker’s thoughts and feelings not only towards the receiver but also to their surrounding.

Directive Function Language

-directive function language requires a commanding action that may takes place between people .
In this picture I anticipated that someone is giving or assessing the receiver on what they should
do.

Aesthetic Function Language

-as shown in the picture a man is holding up his hand as he recite or read something in the
book. Somehow he influences cultural diversity to understand what is conveyed on their message.
Phatic Function Language

-the picture given show three people who is greeting each other. This speaks well to the phatic
language. This also means to start a conversation between the speaker and the receiver.
