Unit I
Rationale

One of the goals of the K to 12 Basic Education Program is to develop in learners the
competencies, work ethic, and values relevant to pursuing further education and/or
joining the world of work. To achieve greater congruence between basic education and
the nation’s development targets, work immersion, is a required subject, has been
incorporated into the curriculum. This subject will provide learners with opportunities:
1. To become familiar with the work place;

2. For employment simulations; and
3. To apply their competencies in areas of specialization/ applied subjects in
authentic work environments
To achieve the above objectives, work Immersion is thus a requirement for graduation
from secondary education. Learners are immersed in actual work environments such as
workshops offices and laboratories in which prior training is relevant.
In lieu to this goal, the Department of Education allotted time to pursue work immersion.
Work immersion is a key feature of the SHS Curriculum. It can be conducted in different
ways depending on the purposes and needs of learners. There are so many competencies
provided by the school under the supervision of the School Head along with the
designated personnel.
The main purpose of this work immersion is to prepare each student to their post-
secondary education as they undergo trainings in real-work situations so as to help them
know how it is and what it takes to be in their chosen field.

II. OBJECTIVES OF WORK IMMERSION
Work Immersion will help develop among the learners’ life and career skills, and will
prepare them to make decisions on postsecondary education or employment. Through
partnership building, DepEd hopes that the Partner institutions will provide learners with
work immersion opportunities, workplace or hands-on experience, and additional learning
resources. It aims to make the learners:
1. Appreciate the importance and application of the principles and theories learned in
school;
2. Enhance their technical knowledge and skills;
3. Enrich their skills in communications and human relations; and
4. Develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation and respect for work.
By the time learners reach Senior High School, they would have already acquired almost
all the competencies and skills that would prepare them for the curriculum exits (higher
education, employment, middle-skills development, and entrepreneurship). Work
Immersion provides them with an avenue to test themselves and apply what they have
learned in a non-school scenario. In work immersion, learners are not only able to apply
their previous training but are also able to experience the social interactions in a work
environment. Their experiences during work immersion will develop many skills and
values that would help them as they transition for high school to real life.
To assure the achievement of the above objectives of work immersion, this policy serves
to guide schools in;
1. Creating flexible work immersion arrangements for the learners;

2. Providing options for work immersion that are relevant to learners’ purposes and
needs;
3. Organizing work immersion opportunities for learners that are consistent with the
diverse human resource requirements of partner institutions for work immersions;
and

4. Articulating the scope and limits of work immersion in the context of basic
education when building relationships with work immersion partners.

March 02,2022

Today is the 1 st day of our work Immersion at school and house. Ma’am Tesa
Tayan and Ma’am Elaine Lagundino give us a activities to accomplish. The given task is
cleaning the kitchen and label the condiments . This morning we went to my aunt home
to clean there kitchen as per school activity. The first thing I did is to wipe the tables and
washed some dirty kitchen utensils there, organizing some condiments that is not in a
good place and the last thing I did is to brush the floor with soup powder.
March 03,2022
Today is the 2 nd day or our work immersion home and school. Ma’am Tesa
Tayan and ma’am Elaine Lagundino they are given activities to accomplish. The given
task is helping ma’am Vicky in (HE-JUNIOR HIGH).This morning I went to ma’am
Vicky to help in the cooking area then I was ordered to go AVR to serve food to the
teacher’s and suddenly someone talk to me who was the head teacher who told me that
my service was good. .And then I went to the room to help clean up.

This day ma’am Elaine Lagundino and ma’am Tesa Tayan given task is to
cook chocolate swirl Pancake. I prepare my PPE like Apron ,Gloves ,Masks and Hairnet.
First we prepare all the ingredients , First ingredients 1cup sifted cake flour, 3eggs, 2cups
of milk,1tbsp melted butter and mix well and divide the butter 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
mix well and after all of that grease the pan and swirl the butter on it and make a
chocolate swirl powder.

Our first day of work immersion and the first task that is given to us by our
teacher is to organize our kit hen and label condiment First thing i do is to write the home
of the condiment in a bond paper and put some tape on it then i organize the kitchen
arranging yo what it should be taking off the un visible things then putting them in the
right place I learned for the day is how important organizing our kitchen and the
cleanliness if out place.
March 03,2022
This is our 2nd day of our work immersion.so on this day we are finally school
base and the given task to us is to clean the garden and our classroom. Arriving at the
school first thing I do is to attendance and wait for maàm Elaine and Maàm Tessa. And
they gave us the task to clean the garden while Jules, Relie &Angela take pictures. We
also assist Maàm Vickie cooking. And I learned for this day is to have fun working.

It's already our 3rd day of work immersion and the given task to us is to cook
CHOCOLATE SWIRL PANCAKE. Our first thing we do is buy all ingredients needed
then we follow the procedure on how to make batter and method for cooking on our
pancake. The pancake went well. I learned in this task is applying the procedure is better
than no procedure.

March 09,2022
Maàm Elaine Lagundino given picture for us to imitate. For the tasks are model
your PPE outfit and your FBS outfit. And consider also our proper haircut for boys and
proper make-up and hair do for girls.. Before that I prepared my PPE like Apron ,hairnet,
gloves and facemask. And I modeled my PPE outfit and took picture for the task given.
And after that I prepare my the one use to be used in the FBS outfit like the long sleeve
and skirt for the FBS picture for our task also to be given.. I learned that wearing PPE
outfit and FBS outfit is simple but presentable.
March 10,2022
5th day of our immersion and we are going to school for our day immersion.
Ma’am Elaine Lagundino given task is cooking Bread pudding we prepare the
ingredients ..Ma’am elaine teach us how to mix all the ingredients and after that we get
pan for Bread pudding and put in the oven.. Then after 30-40 minutes our Bread Pudding
is ready to serve. And our plating is begin and after plating we go principal office to
ma’am principal taste our Bread pudding ..I learned how to cook bread pudding and we
need spend time how to cook Bread Pudding.

First thing I do is prepare and assemble all ingredients :sandwiches, breads,
spreads, fillings. Assemble necessary equipment including wrapping materials. Arrange
bread slices in rows on the table top. And start to prepare HAM SANDWICHES .I
arrange the bread slices in a 1table or plate. And at the topped of bread slices topped of
bread slices topped with mayonnaise and spread fillings evenly and neatly on alternate
slices leaving the other slices plane .Spread all bread slices to the edge with desired
spread. And I arrange the lettuce or other vegetables on top of filling .Top the filled slices
with the plan bread slices. And cut with a sharp serrated knife as desired .I learned that
making simple cold sandwiches (HAM SANDWICHES).I call it simple cold sandwiches
but all the processes have to be done to finish and to taste good.

Today is 4th day of our work immersion so the first thing I was is wake up early
and get my PPE ang FBS attire .PPE is personal protective equipment and FBS is fassion
brand solution so after that what we did was model our PPE and FBS and we send it to
our gc I learned that Even when the world isn't dealing with the widespread impact of a
pandemic, the use of personal protective equipment is important in every workplace
setting because it helps prevent injuries, illnesses, and deaths.
March 10,2022
Today is 5th day of our work immersion the first thing I was is wake up early and
went to market and buy ingredients needed in making pudding. Pudding is a flavored,
custard-like dessert made of milk, sugar, and a thickening agent such as egg yolks or corn
starch. Here are the steps we made In 2-quart saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch and salt.
Gradually stir in milk. .Gradually stir at least half of the hot mixture into egg yolks, then
stir back into hot mixture in saucepan. Boil and stir 1 minute; remove from heat. Pour
pudding into dessert dishes. Cover and refrigerate about 1 hour or until chilled. I learned
that Pudding isn't just tasty, it's a healthy way to get your body's calcium. Vitamins and
minerals are essential components of pudding. Vitamin D and magnesium are terrific
nutrients your body needs.

Today is day 6 of our work immersion so the first thing I was is wake up early and
go to market to buy a ingredients needed in making sandwich is an item of food
consisting of two pieces of bread with meat, cheese, or other filling between them, eaten
as a light meal .here is the ingredients I used Bread of your choice. I used a wholegrain
sandwich bread. Fresh salad vegetables. Lettuce (or other leaves), tomato, cucumber,
onion, carrots, beetroot, peppers, spinach, avocado etc .Cheese Optional .Mayonnaise.
Alternatively you can use Greek yogurt. Fresh herbs Lemon juice Salt and pepper. I
Learned that Healthy sandwiches are crucial in improving attention span and academic
performance, preventing diseases and instilling healthy dietary habits

March 16, 2022
Maàm Elaine Lagundino told us to bring five handkerchiefs and get a FBS
outfit for our activity today. What Maàm Elaine sent is what we use today for our
activity to for today. And wearing a FBS outfit to perform our task. First we were all
dressed in FBS attire and then her group went to her and then we were taught the steps of

folding napkin of 11 steps and it was as follows pyramid, candle, rose, leaf, water lily,
crab, pinwheel, diamond, world of paradise, cross, cockscomb and we all got it and then
we were given time to practice it them of it alone for 3mins. Hopefully in 10steps but
Maàm Elaine says 1mins. and 30sec. Is only for 5 steps one by one. Doing it after the
napkin folding step we memorized now to tell if we were in a restaurant and we did it.
What I learned is that the hair should be in order and clothes should also be in order and
also talking to the costumer.
March 17,2022
Today is the 8 th day work immersion in home and school. Maàm Elaine
Lagundino and Maàm Tesa Tayan they give activities to accomplish the giving task is
make a reflection about salad .First buy fresh ingredients for the salad and wash it well
then slice the ingredients and prepare all the ingredients in one table .Ans start making
salad. I put on the mixing bowl was the lettuce ,cucumber and the apple after all that I our
the mayonnaise and all the cream after making the salad we tasted it to the neighbor or
some one it said it was delicious .I learned is that the ingredients must be fresh to make it
taste good and fresh.

This is the 9 th day of our work immersion in home and Maàm Tessa Tayan
given task to us is clean the room. We went to Maàm Tessa’s room and planted and
cleaned inside her classroom. After we cleaned the inside of maàm Tessa school we went

to our room to clean the things that maàm Elaine given task to us. What I have learned is
don’t wait until its dirty to clean. It doesn`t have to be perfect.

Today is the 7th day of our work immersion in home and school. Maàm Elaine
Lagundino and Maàm Tesa Tayan they give activities to accomplish the giving tasking
the steps of napkin folding (FBS). First we were all dressed in FBS attire and then we

were taught the step of folding napkin of 11 steps and it was as follows pyramid,
candle ,rose, leaf, water lily, crab, pinwheel, diamond, word of paradise ,cross, cock comb
and we all got it and then we were given time to practice it then do it alone for 3mins.

Today is 8th day of our work immersion in home and school. Maàm Elaine
Lagundino and Maàm Tesa Tayan they give activities to accomplish the giving task is
make a reflection about the salad. First buy fresh ingredients for the salad and wash it
well then slice the salad ingredients and prepare it with the camera for making video then
started making the salad we tasted it to the neighbor and someone said it to was delicious
and you had it too sweet what I have learned is that the ingredients must be placed
correctly for the correct tastes of the salad so that it does not overdo or lack flavor.

Lagundino and Maàm Tesa Tayan they give activities to accomplish the giving task is to
clean the room. First we cleaned the room swept the floor wiped the window and waxed
the floor then folded the curtain then maàm Tesa called us to help move and transfer the
plants to the empty vase and watering the plants the we return to the room. What I have

learned is that cleaning the environment can help to prevent disease and to make the
surrounding more airy.

Today is 9th day Of work immersion is cleaning the room first thing I was is take
of all the dirty curtain and was it all to make it look good and clean then clean the divan
and wax the floor . I learned that Cleaning eliminates germs along with dirt and dust,
resulting in better indoor air quality, leaving a whiff of freshness in its wake

March 23,2022
This day is the 10th day of our immersion clean the plot box because it was
necessary and ma'am principal ordered us to clean all areas of his room because there was
a visitor coming .We need in front of our classroom then we the side of our room and
rested for a while for the next thing to do. While we were resting sir Janecen bought a
snack while we were resting. After we rest we go straight to the fish pond to clean ma'am
Elaine and sir Janecen with us so we know where we are going to clean and what we are
going to finish what we had to clean. And in the afternoon we went to ma'am Tessa's
room to clean inside her room and plant. I learned that cleaning might be hard and un
pleasant, but never give up.This is probably the most important lesson you can learn from
cleaning.
March 24,2022
Today is the 11th day of our immersion ma'am Elaine Lagundino and ma'am
Tessa Tayan given task to us is cleaning the side of our room. We cleaned the side of our
room and after we cleaned ma'am Elaine Lagundino told us to wash our hands for next
we will do. Maàm Elaine Lagundino told us to make a reflection of our work immersion.
I learned that the cleaning important to us at clean all the utensils or materials.

March 23,2022
Today is the 9th day of our work immersion at school and house. Sir Janecen
Javier give a task to clean. This morning sir Janecen ordered us to pull needs and remove
ugly flower and then sir Janecen ordered me again to remove weeds from the plant box
and the non was also in the area of ma'am Tessa and sir William after cleaning breathed
and snacked. And faster resting and snacking we cleaned again in ma'am Elaine area
What I did was pull out and build and after we cleaned we went to the fishpond to also
clean and after we cleaned we went home. This afternoon what I did was clean the Cr .I
rubbed there and fixed the inside of the Cr to us After I did I helped them and after I
helped I walked to ma'am Tessa's room see my friends who was cleaning.

Today is the 11th day of our work immersion ma'am Elaine Lagundino give a task
to clean. This morning we cleaned the side of our room we removed the mango grass
after we pulled the grass we did our reflection.

March 23,2022
Today is the 10th day of our work immersion home and school. Maàm Elaine
Lagundino and Maàm Tessa Tayan they give activities to accomplish the giving
task .The giving task is to clean the room decorate the classroom .First we cleaned the
areas of the room. First it was in the and then we rested and sir Janecen bought us a snack
we cleaned again then we rested again and then we went to the fishpond for cleaning the
side of it because the leaves are big there and then we went back at the room and rested
and went home and went back to the room and of 1pm maàm Tesa called us to help clean
the room and plants that can still be transferred to a nice vase and then rested and snacked
after snacking we started cleaning again and the plant then said goodbye to maàm Tesa
we went back to the room and we came to the room they were painting and decorating a
the room. What I have learned is to communicate with one of the companies and don’t be
lazy.

came then we cleaned the side of our room then we washed our hands. What I have

Today is day 10 of our work immersion is cleaning the
garden so the first thing I was is get a bolo go to garden and clean it after we're done
cleaning the garden we went to fish pond and clean it again then in the afternoon i went to
school again and paint the table, divan and etc. I learned that cleaning the Garden clean
ups can prevent pests, weed seed and diseases from overwintering and prevents problems
when temperatures are warm.

Today is day 11 of our work immersion so the first thing
I was is go to school and maàm Elaine told us to clean the room and fix the bulletin
boards so I cut the cartolina to shape a pot after that i glued it on the wall.

Cleaning the school helps us improve the surrounding
todays immersion we clean the surrounding . We started at 9:00 Am every students has a
role on cleaning some trim grasses, trim trees etc.in the afternoon we part flower base and
something in the classroom .. What I learned in the day is to work with passion and to
participate activities.

Work out or practice to test or improve ones fitness or
athletic competition or performance.. This day nothing happened we went to school to
practice and to do reflection until noon then we practice again and again.. I learned that
regular practice can reduce anxiety and stress.
March 30,2022
Foundation day is the day we celebrate the anniversary of
the school. We go to the H-E and we prepare foods to be served in the gym we prepared
many foods for the visitors at 11:00 AM we prepared a boodle fight on the pathway the
dishes are fish , mango ,meets, etc..I learned that serving foods is fun and exciting to

Today is the 12th day of our work immersion at home and school Ma’am Elaine
Lagundino and Ma’am Tesa Tayan they give activities to accomplish the given task is to
go Ma’am Vicky to help prepare food.. First of all we go to ma’am Vicky to help her
prepare foods for the guest or visitors First we make a chicken sandwich and then the
food for lunch and then we cook all the food for lunch we prepare it first we lift the table
to be used next is the food we prepare boodle fights .we make a foods for the visitors, we
cook and we prepare foods after preparing is about a few minutes we serve the guest food

Time 15 mins. this is our steps in making cheese dos bread roll .first slice hot dogs and

hot dog. ... And the rest is In a medium bowl, beat eggs. Dip each rolled breads in beaten

eggplant so the first thing I was is prepare all the ingredients needed in cooking baked
eggplant and Arrange the eggplant slices on an extra large baking sheet in a single layer.
Drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with sea salt, garlic powder, and black pepper. Flip and
repeat the olive oil, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Roast the eggplant slices in the oven

with people of various personality, get to know the ideas of my future career and most

Our work immersion is very hard and challenging. I have gained more ideas, knowledge
and it was a really great experience. I have learned many things such as teamwork, effort,
discipline, time management and many more. Work immersion can help me choose a
course in college. I was thankful because i learn some things in this work immersion that
can benefit me. Work immersion helped me improve my skills by experiencing real work
simulation. The fun part of this immersion is the bonding part where our group can enjoy
the works, when we can all laugh at the sloppy works and fight over a small things our
projects were all successfull at the end.
For the 320hrs of our work immersion I could say it was really a great experience and
helps me and in for my whole life. Work immersion during this pandemic is difficult for
us as a grade 12 students or graduating students in doing or going in work immersion. But
it was a great opportunity because I learned a lot of things that can help me or enhance
my skills in cooking. Being an immersant during this pandemic is challenging because
our face to face is limited in our work immersion. I encountered, I learned a lot of new
things like the unique way in cooking and proper things in how to serve in the client.
Work immersion during this pandemic made me feel like a professional especially when I
accomplished all the given task with my group mates. I learned In our work immersion is
prepare or ready for our dream by training how to work in a one business or even in excel
in a specific career. And I realized what really want in the future .I've learned a lot of
things. To have more patience in any task/work. I could really that is was a great

adventure. During the first week of our work immersion completing the tender, I was
