PowerPoint
This resource has been designed with animations to make it as fun and engaging as possible.
To view the content in the correct formatting, please view the PowerPoint in “slide show
mode.” This takes you from desktop to presentation mode. If you view the slides out of “slide

from current slide.

To ensure the content has the correct formatting, please view the presentation in “present
mode.” This takes you from edit mode to presentation mode. If you view the slides out of
“present mode,” you may find that some of the text and images overlap each other and/or are
difficult to read.

To enter present mode, go to the “Present” tab and select “Present from beginning” or simply
click “Present” to play from the current slide.

You may wish to delete this slide before beginning the presentation.
keyboard

The keyboard contains letters, numbers, and symbols.


It is used for entering information into the computer.
monitor

The monitor looks like a TV screen. It shows you what


you are doing on your computer.
mouse

The mouse is used for navigating and clicking on the


computer screen. Single and double clicks are used for
different functions. A mouse can be corded or wireless.
motherboard

The motherboard is like the backbone of the computer.


It connects the components of the computer together
in one place, allowing all parts to communicate with
one another.
Random Access Memory (RAM)

The RAM stores information in a computer, such as


data for programs and apps. It is the computer’s
short-term memory.
video card

This is also known as the graphics card. The video


card controls what is shown on the computer monitor
and helps to display images on the screen, such as
computer games.
sound card

The sound card controls the input and output of sound


signals. It processes the sounds on the computer and
sends them to the speakers or headphones.
hard drive

The hard drive stores all of the digital content of the


computer. Documents, videos, photos, programs, and
the operating system are stored here. The hard drive
can be internal or external.
central processing unit (CPU)

The CPU is the brain of the computer. It sends signals


to control the other parts of the computer and interacts
with all the programs and applications.
router

The router is a networking device that directs traffic


and data between the internet and all devices
connected to it.
speakers

The speakers connect to the computer to make it


possible for us to hear the sounds it makes. Computers
also have internal speakers.
USB port

The USB port allows a person to connect an electronic


device to a computer. It can also be used for saving
data onto a flash drive.
printer

A printer copies the information from your computer


onto paper. It may also include photocopying and
scanning functions. Printers can be wireless or plug
directly into a USB port on the computer.
