Mathematical Modeling of Control Systems

- Laplace Transform
Laplace Transforms: method for solving differential equations, converts differential
equations in time t into algebraic equations in complex variable s.

- Procedure derives the transfer function


1. Write the differential equation for the system.
2. Take the Laplace transform of the differential equation, assuming all initial conditions are
zero.
3. Take the ratio of the output Y(s) to the input R(s). This ratio is the transfer function.
