    HOW TO

    Establish communication between M221 and S5T HMI


    through Modbus RTU

    Hardware configuration

    No I/O scanning available in M221 so workaround necessary


    Same procedure can be used to communicate with any Magelis HMI

    Software used
    SoMachine Basic
    Vijeo Designer 6.2 (Standalone Licence)

    Modbus RTU
    SoMachine Basic configuration

    Start by creating your M221 application with SoMachine Basic, with all the needed variables
    Vijeo Designer configuration
    Next, in Vijeo Designer 6.2:

    - Right click on IO Manager > Insert New Driver > Modbus (RTU)

    - Right click on ModbusEquipment > Configuration > Select Slave Address (M221)
    (Make sure you check IEC611131 Syntax)
    Vijeo Designer configuration
    - Right click on Variables > 'Link Variables"
    - The file format should be “SoMachine Basic Project files (*.SMBP)”
    - Open your M221.smbp project file
    Vijeo Designer configuration
    Select the variables to be shared > Click Add
    Vijeo Designer configuration
