LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET (LAS)

MATHEMATICS 8 (Quarter 3 Week 5)

Name of Learner: _______________________________Grade and Section: ____________

Date: ____________________

INTRODUCTORY CONCEPT:
CONGRUENT TRIANGLES
This lesson is about congruent triangles, solve its corresponding parts, and how its
angles and sides correspond with each other. The sides and angles will match up then their
vertices should be name in the same order.
Two lines segments are congruent if their endpoints can be made to coincide. Two
angles are congruent if their sides can be made to coincide.
Two triangles are congruent if and only if their vertices can be paired so that
corresponding sides are congruent.

Solves corresponding parts of congruent triangles M8GE-IIIf-1

ACTIVITY PROPER:
Recall
In order to say that the two triangles are congruent, we must show that all six pairs of
corresponding parts of the two triangles are congruent.

ACTIVITY I

Direction: Given the figure below answer the following questions

M R T
A A A 1 * What are the congruent triangles?
2 * What are the corresponding congruent
parts of congruent triangles?
3 * What is the measure of  M _____?

ACTIVITY 2

Remember that the angle sum theorem states that the sum of the degree measures
of the angles of a triangle is 180. Recall that a triangle is a three-sided polygon with three
sides and three vertices.

Explore a triangle with this activity. Use a cut-out of a triangle.

1. Name the triangle RPS and label the corresponding angles 1 2 and 3 as shown
below

RS 2 2
RRR 1 3R 1 3
P S R P S
2. Fold the triangle so the point P lies on RS.
3. Fold the triangle in two more places, so that 1 and 3 touch point P.
Observe
R that RPM and 3 form a linear pair that is the m RPM +m 3 =180.
Since m1+m2 = mRPM, by principle of substitution, m1+m2+m3=180.
