5-4. Preventive Maintenance

5-4-1. Cleaning the Rollers

The rollers in the transport will collect dust due to the passage of film. This dust can cause image
artifacts, and in some cases scratch the original image. It is recommended that every two weeks or 500
films, whichever comes first, the rollers be cleaned using a film from Cleaning Film Kit P/N
78-8053-4118-3.

Procedure
1. Peel the protective paper from a sheet of the cleaning film.
2. Insert the cleaning film sheet into the transport entrance with the cleaning surface facing you.
3. Discard the used sheet from the receive tray.
4. Repeat the process with cleaning surface facing in the opposite direction.

n Note
Cleaning film may stick to the roller. If the film stops, lightly pull on the film from the bottom of the 7000 Film
Duplicator to allow the film to exit the system.

5-4-2. Cleaning the Light Collection Module

The Light Collection Module measures the amount of light as the laser beam scans across it. Over time
dust can collect on the Light Collection Module diffuser screen, causing light line image artifacts. It is
recommended that the diffuser screen be cleaned every two weeks.

! Caution
The diffuser screen is a translucent surface easily damaged by fingernails and jewelry. Prior to cleaning the diffuser
screen remove any jewelry (rings, bracelets, watches, etc.) which may accidentally contact the diffuser screen.
Do not use solvents such as acetone, benzene or window spray. These solvents can permanently damage the diffuser
screen.

1. Power down the 7000 and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
2. Release the Access Panel.
3. Release the Light Collection Module (refer to paragraph 4-2, steps 3 and 4).
4. Using either the alcohol pad supplied with the cleaning kit or a non-abrasive, lint-free cloth
dampened with a water and soap solution, wipe the diffuser screen. See Figure 5-1.
5. Visually inspect the diffuser screen for any dust, and wipe off excess solution.
6. When finished cleaning, reassemble in reverse order.
7. Plug in the power cord and power up the 7000.
