Due to the armed conflict experienced by Barangay Tongantongan and
Laligan residents the City Nutrition Cluster has been activated last
September 11 and 15, 2021.

Identified new people’s army (NPA) strife with Armed Forces of the
Philippines has affected families. According to the data by the City Social
Welfare Development Office (CSWDO) there were 282 families who were
affected from Barangay Tongantongan (68 Purok-5, 82 Purok-14, and 24
Purok-11 and 7 families from Purok-1, 19 Purok-3, 33 Purok-5, and 49
Purok-10 from Barangay Laligan) these affected families evacuated at
Barangay Hall and Elementary School of Tongantongan and some families
temporarily stayed at their relatives from nearby barangays.

In addition, City Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma.Rhezel Elarcosa RND,

Aljhoy Adregado RND and Barangay Nutrition Scholar of Barangay
Tongantongan Ms. Lorna Arimas and Ms. Airene Landa went to the
evacuation site and conducted Nutrition Initial Needs Assessment (NINA)
Recording Tool to assess the situation of the target groups . They also
distributed information education campaign (IEC) materials and stocked
piled multivitamins to Identified 30 children aged 12-59 months and 9
pregnant mothers by giving Foralivit Vitamins.

Quick response by Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National

Police, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, City Social
Welfare Development Office and the Local Government of Valencia have
helped restore peace to the community.
