Introduction
Among the service industries, the hotel industry provides guest accommodations. Hotels, hostels,
motels, inns, and guest houses are all included in the hotel industry, which is usually understood
to include many other types of overnight accommodation. Accommodation that is long-term or
permanent does not usually fall under this category.

Hospitality and tourism industries are two different things, people usually mix between the two
since they cross-over a lot, but the main difference is that the hotel industry is mainly about
accommodation, but the hospitality industry is about providing more than accommodation such as
cars, restaurants, cafes and a different number of travel and tourism services.

There are different types of accommodation in the hotel

industry:
1- Hotel

Hotels are the most used sort of hotel industry.

2- Bed and Breakfast

This is a new type of accommodation, and it is the fastest growing one. The owner
offers a room in their house, and they usually also live in the house. They offer bed
and breakfast in the morning. This is a very budget friendly option, and usually
doesn’t offer a high-end option.

2|P ag e
3- Motels

This is a form of overnight accommodation that is suitable for motorists and is

usually located on the roadside. They offer few facilities and offer way less
amenities than a hotel.

4- Inns

These are very similar to B&B, but the difference is that this has usually bigger
rooms and offer more than just breakfast for food.

5- Resorts

This is an all-inclusive type of hotel, the guests rarely must leave the premises,
Resorts offer restaurants, pools, bars, entertainment options and much more.

3|P ag e
6- Services Apartments

This is a very famous option for business travelers, they offer laundry services,
food, pool, room service and much more, the rooms here are normally larger than
the ones offered in hotels

7- Hostels
They are offered for people who are price sensitive, a person may share a single
room with other people, and you pay for the bed only and not the whole room.
Guests tend to share the same kitchen and bathroom too.

8- Apartment Hotels

This hotel is an apartment building, and their system is more like the apartment
renting services; they often offer housekeeping but not necessary.

4|P ag e
9- Boutique Hotels

The hotels always have a luxurious feel to them, they provide high quality services
and the hotel is situated in an small building. They are commonly found in urban
and luxuries areas.

10- Condo Hotel

Guests can rent condominium units for a short period of time in a condo hotel,
which operates as a condominium building. A holiday home resort provides both
holiday home comforts and hotel-style services. They are almost exclusively found
in cities and are particularly popular in the United States

11- Eco Hotel

5|P ag e
They have taken steps to minimize the environmental damage they cause by
adopting sustainable living practices. Local products may be prioritized, recycling
measures may be taken, energy savings may be emphasized, and sustainable
bedding and towels may be used.

12- Guest Houses

Typically, a guest house is a private house that has been converted into a lodging
facility for guests. Often, guests' areas are kept separate from areas where the owner
lives. Most guesthouses are self-service, but some offer additional services.

13- Holiday Cottages

In simple terms, a holiday cottage, also known as a holiday home, is a cottage or

small house that is rented out by people for holiday purposes. The basic concept is
that a guest pays for a short time to use the property. A key advantage of these
accommodations is that they offer guests freedom, which is particularly common
in the UK, the US, and Canada.

14- Pensions

The pension is a type of guesthouse like the bed and breakfast but provides more meals
throughout the day. Most hotels offer a variety of different options for their guests, such
as the full board option, which includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or the half board
option, which only includes breakfast and dinner.

There are a lot of other types of hotels out there, but I have named the famous ones, and there are
famous hotel names that run a chain of hotels that offer more than just one type of hotels.

The following is a list of chain-branded hotels around the world. The following is a list of some
of the major hotel brands around the world. Hotels may be owned directly by hotel groups or
operated through franchises or management agreements.

Here are the top hotel groups chains in the world:

1- Marriott International

2021, making it the world's largest hotel chain.

J. Willard Marriott established the nine-seat beer kiosk in 1927, which later developed into the Hot
Shoppes Restaurant chain and eventually into the Marriott International hotel firm we know today.

He constructed this same Marriott brand over the course of the following 58 years on a set of
guiding principles that are still present in the organization's society today.

2- Jin Jiang
Jin Jiang is the second-largest hotel chain in the world in regards of room count, with more hotels
than Marriott International but fewer rooms. The Chinese firm Jin Jiang ran about 10,000 hotels
with nearly 1,100,000 rooms in 2021.

a Shanghai-based, Chinese state travel and hotel corporation. Jinjiang Hotel, Peace Hotel, Park

9|P ag e
Among the biggest hotel brands in the world and the brand of Hilton is Hilton Hotels & Resorts.

known vacation spots all over the world, and it caters to both commercial and leisure tourists.

4- Wyndham Hotel Group

The fifth largest worldwide is Wyndham Hotel Group. This US hotels chain's room availability
has decreased about 4.2%, making it the sole western chain in the top 10 to have less rooms than
the previous year. Wyndham Hotel Group will be the owner of 8,941 hotels with 795,909 rooms
in 2021.

With 9,280 properties, it calls itself the biggest hotel franchisor in the globe. Twenty different hotel
chains are represented in its network, including Baymont, Days Inn, Howard Johnson, La Quinta,
Ramada, Super 8, Travelodge, and Wyndham. America's Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Inc. was

Conclusion
The hotel industry is a branch of the hospitality sector that focuses on offering lodging solutions
to clients. There are many different hotel kinds, and they may often be divided into groups based
on size, purpose, service, and price. Limited service, mid-range service, and full service are the
typical divisions of service levels. One being the lowest rating and five being the highest, the star
rating method might be instantly recognizable to a certain customer. Business, casinos, gym,
overnight stay, bed & breakfast, and other functions are included in several the groups. Up to the
outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020, the hotel and tourism industry's global
market share grew. After that, the size of the market drastically decreased.
