The classroom
To learn Starters vocabulary associated with the theme.
To practise reading said vocabulary.
To practise matching visual prompts to the written form of the word.
To introduce the question “What’s this?” and to learn to respond with a full sentence answers.
To be able to identify both question and answer in their written forms.
To become aware of full stops and capital letters.
To introduce “Is it a…” questions and to learn the full sentence answers: “Yes it is. No it isn't.
Toys
To learn Starters vocabulary associated with the theme.
To practise reading said vocabulary.
To practise matching visual prompts to the written form of the word.
To enforce the correct use of prepositions of place.
To improve students listening and speaking skills through a “What can you see?” class activity.
To undertake a quick review of “Is it a?” questions and to practise the written forms.
Daily reviews
Circle time: To review the correct pronunciation and written forms of the days of the week,
months of the year, and the weather.
To introduce ordinals numbers by practising the date in every class.
To motivate students to engage in real communication in English.
Interview
To allow students one to one speaking practise with an adult (This will greatly benefit them
if/when they take exams.)
To regularly review questions that will be asked in the Starters speaking exam.
To help the students become confident and comfortable when speaking in public in English.
To create an atmosphere that promotes the use of questions.
To strengthen class rapport.
