Objectives: Level 5, Term 1

Level five reinforces grammar structures and vocabulary learnt during previous levels. Students expand
their knowledge of prior topics such as numbers, the alphabet, family and feelings while also being
exposed to new topics like sports and hobbies. Activities are interactive and promote development of
speaking and listening skills as well as developing a love for learning and the English language.

Summary of Learning Objectives:


 Understand simple sentences about things around them, like ‘This is a chair’, ‘I like my school’,
‘That’s my pen’.
 Comprehend simple expressions of communication, such as ‘Hello’, ‘How are you?’, ‘Thank you’
and provide appropriate responses.
 Follow simple classroom instructions given by the teacher and understand simple written
instructions.
 Recognise and write the letters of the English alphabet, spell their name and simple words.
 Read short, simple words and the names of some objects, such as animals, toys, clothes.
 Respond to personal questions on topics such as age, family and their home.
