1. PURPOSE

To ensure effective management of waste, movement, storage and disposal of waste


produced by ITS Contracting Company & to minimize harm to human health and to
ensure minimum impact on environment.

2. SCOPE

The procedure is applicable to ITS Contracting Company sites to fulfil the general and
also the legislative requirement

3. RESPONSIBILITY

3.1 Site Manager

 Ensure the implementation of this procedure.

3.2 HSE Manager

 Review information for each waste stream relating to the relevant legislative
requirements and confirming validity with the relevant authorities.

 Ensuring that waste control documentation is completed and retained as per


procedural/ legislative requirements

 Planning, conducting and reporting of waste and environmental audits.

3.3 Environmental Officer

 Control of the waste storage area.


 Responsible for making appropriate arrangements and assessing the
waste for classification
 Responsible for auctioning the wastes and preparation of comparative
statement and disposal.
 Ensuring that waste carriers and disposal sites are suitably licensed for
waste to be disposed.

4. DESCRIPTION

4.1 Waste Categorization

a. Bio-degradable waste
b. Non- Bio-degradable waste
c. Contaminated Waste
d. Hazardous Waste
e. Industrial Waste
f. Biomedical Waste

4.2 Disposal

 Contaminated waste includes oil/ grease impregnated cotton waste - cannot be


used for land filling and to be incinerated through authorized vendors

 Metallic Waste include off-cuts of steel tubes, plates and turning and borings of
tubes and bars, and also nonferrous metallic scrap like aluminum, copper and
bronze coming out of maintenance. These wastes are to be sold through auction

 Old machinery list which is approved are disposed of through open auction

 Hazardous waste includes empty paint containers, paint sludge, empty dye
penetrant cans, used lubricants, used cutting oil, used transformer oil, generated
out of shop floor roof sheets and rain water pipes of roof sheds. These are to be
disposed through approved recyclers or approved client disposal company. The
waste disposal service company must be able to provide all legal documents
prescribed in local regulations.
