Unit 1. Activity 2. Rizal Laws

Make some amendments on Laws of Rizal with 5 to 7 propositions that may inspire today's
generation to follow the good deeds of our heroes.

 REPUBLIC ACT NO. 1425

AN ACT TO INCLUDE IN THE CURRICULA OF ALL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE


SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES COURSES ON THE LIFE, WORKS
AND WRITINGS OF JOSE RIZAL, PARTICULARLY HIS NOVELS NOLI ME
TANGERE AND EL FILIBUSTERISMO, AUTHORIZING THE PRINTING AND
DISTRIBUTION THEREOF, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
SECTION 1. Courses on the life, works and writings of Jose Rizal, particularly his
novel Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, shall be included in the curricula of all
schools, colleges and universities, public or private: Provided, That in the collegiate
courses, the original or unexpurgated editions of the Noli Me Tangere and El
Filibusterismo or their English translation shall be used as basic texts.
The Board of National Education is hereby authorized and directed to adopt forthwith
measures to implement and carry out the provisions of this Section, including the
writing and printing of appropriate primers, readers and textbooks. The Board shall,
within sixty (60) days from the effectivity of this Act, promulgate rules and
regulations, including those of a disciplinary nature, to carry out and enforce the
provisions of this Act. The Board shall promulgate rules and regulations providing for
the exemption of students for reasons of religious belief stated in a sworn written
statement, from the requirement of the provision contained in the second part of the
first paragraph of this section; but not from taking the course provided for in the first
part of said paragraph. Said rules and regulations shall take effect thirty (30) days
after their publication in the Official Gazette.
Amendments:
Young people and students will have the freedom to read and analyze what are the
goals of Dr. José Rizal and what he did for our nation. Through the books that are
freely published and stored in school libraries and publishing it on internet platform.
Propositions:
1. It can help students to learn about the novels and life of Rizal.
2. Teens these days don't enjoy reading articles and novels, why not use the
internet to spread information about the life and work of Rizal?
3. Teenagers don't care how our nation fought for our freedom against the
Spanish when they colonized us.
4. The values and virtue’s he teach towards us Filipino. A life of honor and
integrity, the desire to excel, the achievement of goals and dreams, love and
respect for one's parents, the use of God-given talents, and pride in the
Filipino race.
5. To see how a Filipino become a Filipino now. Rizal is a visionary and prolific
Filipino, but he is also a human being like the rest of us. Through
perseverance and diligence, he was able to hone his potentials. Any Filipino
can be a global Pinoy worthy of emulation by Juans and Juanas.

 REPUBLIC ACT NO. 229

AN ACT TO PROHIBIT COCKFIGHTING, HORSE RACING AND JAI-ALAI ON THE


THIRTIETH DAY OF DECEMBER OF EACH YEAR AND TO CREATE A
COMMITTEE TO TAKE CHARGE OF THE PROPER CELEBRATION OF RIZAL
DAY IN EVERY MUNICIPALITY AND CHARTERED CITY, AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.

SECTION 2. It shall be the official duty of the mayor of each municipality and
chartered city to create a committee to take charge of the proper observance of Rizal
Day Celebration of each year, in which he shall be the chairman, which shall be
empowered to seek the assistance and cooperation of any department, bureau,
office, agency or instrumentality of the Government, and the local civic and
educational institutions. Among the ceremonies on Rizal Day shall be the raising of
the Philippine flag at half-mast in all vessels and public buildings.

Amendments:
The 30th of December need to have a special celebration inclusive of having a small
celebration and displaying film approximately Rizal's life, works, deeds and heroic
movement for our country.
Propositions:
1. To spread about Rizal not only in school but for also every barrio’s. It
encourages comparative and transnational sensitivity and seeks to include
academics who may not be specialists in the Philippines.
2. The designated Gov. Officials and the worker will lead to remind every
Filipino. The committee's primary function is to research, evaluate, and
recommend Filipino national characters / heroes in recognition of their
outstanding character and significant contribution to the country.
3. To pay respect to his heroism. It was thought to be a liberal way of learning by
critically analyzing his insights and experiences, which could someday be
used as a role model for our lives.
4. Remind all Filipinos how our national hero sacrificed his life. Many people are
inspired by Rizal's books and words because he desired freedom.
5. Learning about our country's history. Rizal was a pivotal figure in the country's
fight for reform and independence. His writings were viewed as rallying points
for other patriots to rally behind the cause.
