EARTH CLUB PICNIC PLANNING BEGINS

FOR SEPT 10, 2022 EVENT

As you can see, the attendance for the 2021 EARTH Club Picnic was great.

Planning begins at the July meeting for our annual picnic to be held at Delta Lake
State Park. We rent a room on the beach and we reserve the beach. We salt the field
with silver and tokens for awesome prizes. Anyone who can pay their metal detecting
fee of $30 at the July meeting, it will help with buying the prizes. (It was $30 for last
year and will most likely be the same) The picnic is FREE if you don’t plan on hunting.
We only charge per detector. This event is also great for introducing new people and
kids to participate, as you know there are some great targets. Last year there were five
hunts.
The club provides hot dogs and hamburgers along with the trimmings, cooked
by volunteers. Members are asked to bring in a dish if they can. Sign up at the
meeting or let us know what you are bringing if you wont be able to attend a
meeting.

** The Canadian Mint issued two compositions of the dime and quarter in 1967. The standard
80% silver/20% copper variety and the 50% silver/50% copper type. In mid-year 1968, they
changed the quarter and dime again from 50% silver/50% copper to a 99% nickel composition.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This shows that the Canadians kept silver in coins 3 to 4 years after the
United States did who quit making circulated silver coins after 1964.
