Third conditional
If we had run, we wouldn’t have missed the train /we would have caught the
train.
If I had listened to my mum, I wouldn’t have got into trouble.
Rule: The third conditional is used to talk about unreal situations in the past and
their imagined results.
Conditional clause (if clause): If + past perfect
Result clause (main clause): would (could/might) + have + V-past participle
