INTRODUCTION

The role of technical education in economic development of a Country has become


very important and also pose as a great challenge with the rapidly changing
technological scenario in view of ever-increasing globalization as well as
competitiveness in modern times. The need for well-qualified engineers/ professionals
is imperative for providing the solution to numerous complex real-world problems that
affect the quality of life of everyone and in everywhere. In view of the above, the
concerns for making the relevant educational curricula and training to technical
teachers to meet the global needs is becoming a top priority. Looking into the present
needs, the AICTE has framed a policy “National Initiative for Technical Teachers
Training (NITTT)”. For building a better educational ecosystem, it focuses on the
capacity building of technical teachers, important facets of new teaching methodology,
and innovative means of knowledge transfer.

SHORT TITLE, APPLICATION AND COMMENCEMENT

Short Title

This scheme shall be called “National Initiative for Technical Teachers Training (for
Inductee Teacher) (NITTT) 2022.

Applicability

This shall apply to all the teachers working in technical institutions (as defined in
Section 2 (h) of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Act 1987 whose
programmes have been given recognition by AICTE and also Universities (including
deemed to be Universities) imparting technical education (as defined in Section 2(g)
of AICTE Act 1987) for such of their programmes which have been approved by
AICTE, New Delhi.

Commencement

This Scheme is effective from calendar year 2020.

DEFINITIONS

 AICTE: All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi


 Coordinating Institute: NITTTR Chennai
 Coordinator (NITTT): Head of the Coordinating Institute
 Core committee: A committee constituted by AICTE to oversee the smooth
functioning of NITTT.
 Course: Within a Programme (e.g. Engineering, Applied Art, Craft & Design,
Management, etc. as indicated in Section 2(g) of AICTE Act 1987), Course is the

sub-category consisting of a set of specific subjects / papers, resulting in
awarding of a degree / diploma in that Course (e.g. B.Tech. is a course within
the programme of Engineering).
 Inductee Teacher: Newly recruited teachers having less than 5 years of
experience by 1st March 2019 in AICTE recognized technical Institutions and in
Universities (including deemed to be Universities) for such of their programmes
which have been approved by AICTE.
 Institution: Technical Institution recognized by AICTE and Universities (including
deemed to be Universities) for such of their programmes which have been
approved by AICTE.
 Mentor: Identified faculty member for mentoring the Inductee Teacher
 Module: A course of study designed with specific content for training.
 MOOCs: Massive Open Online Courses.
 NITTT: National Initiative for Training of Technical Teachers (for Inductee
Teachers)
 NITTTR: National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research
 SWAYAM: Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds. It is an
MOOC platform developed and made functional by the Ministry of Education,
Government of India for the purpose of offering online learning courses.
 OBT-RP – Online Based Test- Remote Proctored exam can be attempted by the
Inductee Teacher from their own location such as home or office (instead of
visiting a physical test centre).

PURPOSE
The purpose of NITTT scheme is to provide a framework for training of Inductee
Teachers in AICTE approved institutions.

NITTT (FOR INDUCTEE TEACHERS)


In order to provide in service training to the Inductee Teachers in AICTE approved /
recognized institutions, this NITTT (for Inductee Teachers) has been launched. The
training programme shall be conducted in MOOCs mode for eight modules on the
SWAYAM platform through the NITTT portal (www.nittt.ac.in/) (first phase), followed by
mentor based training (second phase) and then one month industrial training (third
phase). An Inductee Teacher has to undergo online training of eight modules (as
suitably modified from time to time) in the first phase of training. The detailed contents
of each module shall be notified from time to time by the Coordinating Institute. An
Inductee Teacher can also undergo all the aforementioned required trainings in three
phases simultaneously. The Inductee Teacher has to successfully complete the entire
NITTT program within three years of the registration at www.nittt.ac.in. If the time limit
exceeds beyond three years then the Inductee Teacher has to re-register and has to
go through the remaining training process until he/ she successfully completes the
program. The probation of a newly recruited teacher in AICTE approved / recognized
institutions shall not be confirmed until he/she successfully completes the three phases
of training. However, all service benefits will accrue from the date of joining. For

teachers who are already confirmed as Assistant Professor or Lecturer but with
experience (as Assistant Professor or Lecturer or combined) of less than 5 years,
completion of these three phases will be a necessary pre- condition for their promotion
to or selection for the next grade pay (or level as per 7th CPC).

REGISTRATION AND ONLINE BASED TEST – REMOTE PROCTORED (OBT-RP)


EXAMINATION OF NITTT

The information related to registration of NITTT OBT- RP examination is provided in


this document. Please read this document carefully before registering for NITTT
Examination. National Testing Agency (NTA) has been identified as the nodal testing
agency to conduct the proctored examination of eight modules.
a) The Inductee Teacher have to mandatorily register in the web portal
(www.nittt.ac.in). On successful registration, a unique ID will be generated and
same shall be used for the certification process.
b) The examination registration will be opened for the specific duration.
c) For the semester September - October 2021, the examination registration
started on 5th January 2022 and will be closed on 28th January 2022.
Participants who have not registered, absent and not successful in the earlier
proctored exam are also allowed to register for the exam with different
guidelines.
d) Step-by-step procedure for NITTT Examination registration can be accessed at
www.nittt.ac.in in the document tab. Participant can download the Registration
Manual to proceed for the registration.
The forthcoming OBT-RP proctored examination for eight NITTT modules is
scheduled to be held on the following dates:

 All eight modules as mentioned above shall be offered as per schedule of Online
Degree SWAYAM.
 The Inductee Teacher may register for any number of modules in each semester
of a calendar year. Hence, there is no restriction on maximum number of
modules an Inductee Teacher can enroll at NITTT to undergo first phase of training.
 The Inductee Teacher has to successfully complete all the eight modules
(specified under First phase training)
 Evaluation of each module is based on the two components - Continuous
Assignment Score and Final OBT-RP Examination Score. To get certified, the
final score will have weightages of continuous Assignment Score and final
proctored Examination Score as 30% and 70%, respectively.
 The learner who has enrolled to study in any of the eight modules in the Online-
Degree SWAYAM Platform and scored minimum of 50% in Internal Assessment
(i.e., 15 Marks out of 30 Marks) is eligible for appearing for the OBT-RP
examination of that particular module. Inductee teacher will be allowed to register
for final proctored examination, only if he/she score 50% in the continuous
assignment (assessment) score.
 Inductee Teacher shall be eligible for a module completion certificate only if
he/she scores at least 50% in each of the two weightages, i.e. Assignment Score
≥15/30 (Criteria 1) and Examination Score ≥35/70 (Criteria 2).
 If one of the two criteria mentioned above is not met, the Inductee Teacher shall
not get the successful completion certificate even if the Final Score which is sum
of Assignment Score and Examination is ≥50.
 The OBT-RP examination would be a Computer Based Test (objective type
questions) of three hours’ duration of 100 questions with the maximum mark of
100, without negative marking.
 The examination will be held as Online Based Test – Remote Proctored exam
where the Inductee teacher can take the test from their place.
 All related notifications for this phase will be issued by the Coordinating Institute.

REGISTRATION FEE

Candidate registration for the NTA-Test shall be made by the NITTTR Chennai, for
this one-time registration fee Rs.2000/- per candidate is to be paid to the
Coordinating Institute while registering at www.nittt.ac.in. This registration fee is
valid for three years. The fee payment is to be made online.

CERTIFICATION FEE

The module-based certification fee as notified from time to time (currently


Rs.1000/- per module per candidate) is required to be paid to the Coordinating
Institute.

FIRST PHASE TRAINING: CERTIFICATION

First phase completion certificate will only be issued to an Inductee Teacher who
successfully completes all the eight modules.
(a) Certificate shall have the name, photograph of successful Inductee Teacher,
names of all eight modules and a security code with relevant details. No
certificates will be issued to the unsuccessful candidates. The e-certificates
issued shall be e-verifiable at www.nittt.ac.in.
(b) Final certificate pertaining to the completion of first phase of training will be
issued only through www.nittt.ac.in.

ISSUE OF ADMIT CARD

The Admit Card shall be issued by NTA & is to be downloaded from the NTA-NITTT
website.

RESULT DECLARATION

The Score Card (without internal assessment) will be declared by the NTA. The results
with internal mark will be declared by the NITTT. The total result will be published at
NITTT Portal.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

i. Candidates can apply only through “Online (nittt.ac.in)” only. There is no


offline registration.
ii. National Testing Agency (NTA) is entrusted to conduct computer-based test
(CBT) of three hours duration in a OBT – Remote Proctored environment.
iii. The question paper consists of multiple-choice.
iv. Candidates must retain the following documents with them as reference for
future correspondence a) Examination Hall Ticket; b) At least two copies of
identical passport size Photograph that was Uploaded in the Dashboard;
v. Candidates must ensure that mobile numbers, e-mail ID filled in the NITTT
registration are their own. The NTA will make communication by SMS and/or e-

mail on given mobile number and e-mail ID.
vi. The NTA will not be responsible for non-receipt of latest information due to
wrong mobile number, e-mail ID and correspondence address filled in the
NITTT Registration.
vii. Ensure that correct data is submitted in NITTT Registration. Candidates may
ensure clear and latest photograph and signature are uploaded in the NITTT
Registration
viii. Eligibility of the candidate will be determined on the last date of hall ticket
generation.
ix. Information Bulletin and FAQs related to the registration and OBT – RP
examination process will be hosted on the NITTT website.

FAQs (Online Based Test - Remote Proctored Exam)

1. What is Online Based Test- (OBT-RP) is Remote Proctored exam?


Online Based Test- (OBT-RP) is Remote Proctored exam can be attempted by candidates
from their own location such as home or office (instead of visiting a physical test center).
To undertake Remote proctored exams candidates, need to have a laptop/ Desktop with
stable internet connectivity, Webcam and a Microphone.

2. Is it mandatory for me to have an internet connection?


Yes, it is mandatory for you to have stable internet connection with your computer system.
The minimum bandwidth required is 1 Mbps.

3. Is it mandatory to have a computer system? Can I take the test through a mobile phone or
tablet, etc.?
Yes, it is mandatory to have a computer system, either a laptop or desktop, with working
webcam and microphone to take the NITTT remote proctored exam. It would not be
possible for you to take this test through gadgets such as mobile phone, tablet, etc.

4. What are the specifications for the device I need to have to take NITTT remote proctored
exam?
The details on this shall be communicated to all concerned by the NTA appropriately.

5. How should I prepare my place for NITTT OBT - RP exam?


You should do some:
 Ensure that your desk is clean and free from any books/gadgets/writing
material/any other stuff
 Ensure that the light source is above you and not behind you so that your face is
clearly visible through the webcam.
 Ensure that your background is plain without any objects / designs.

6. How should I set up my test seat/ workplace?


You must ensure to sit in a quiet place in a well‐lit room, with proper lighting on your face.
The light source should be above you and under no circumstances should the light source
be behind you.

7. Will there be a dress code for the test?


Even though it’s an online test that you are giving from home or a place of your choice,
you must be dressed up properly for an official setting and must maintain the decorum of
the test at all times. It is enough to wear simple formal/semi‐formal clothes. There is no
need to dress up in suit‐tie, etc.

8. Is it mandatory for me to keep an original valid photo ID proof to give the NITTT remote
proctored exam? Advice from NTA

9. At my location, there might be people talking to me or around me, what would I be


expected to do in such case?
The NITTT remote proctored exam must be treated with utmost seriousness and decorum

as any high‐stake test. You must consider your location the same as a test hall and
maintain the decorum of a test throughout the duration. There should be no one talking to
the candidate and the surrounding should not be noisy. The web camera must be adjusted
in such a way that your face is visible to the proctor throughout the test. Any suspicious
behaviour will lead to termination of test.

10. Will I be allowed to use my mobile phone during the test?


No. The NITTT OBT-RP exam is to be taken as seriously as any other high‐stake test,
where you are expected to only concentrate on the test and not use any mobile device/
headphone/earphone/ ear pod/smart watch/ bluetooth device, etc.

11. How do I start the test, if I am getting the following error ‐ “Video Streaming Error”?
It seems that some restrictions are enabled on the network or on system level which is
being used. Kindly follow the steps given below to resolve the issue:
 Disable the firewall/antivirus (if any) on your computer.
 Make sure that you are using a network where website restrictions may not be
enabled.

If the issue persists, kindly connect your system to a different internet connection.

12. What should I do if I get disconnected while attempting the test due to power failure or
internet disconnect?

13. How many questions in the OBT –RP exam?

There are totally 100 questions in the OBT – RP exam. All the questions are Multiple
Choice Questions (MCQ). Each question carries one mark.

14. How much time will be provided to complete the exam?


The exam duration is 3 hours. For the PwD candidates, extra time will be provided as per
norms. The details available at nittt.ac.in

15. Whether negative marking is there for wrong answers?


No, Negative marking for the wrong answers.
