IV. PROCEDURES
A. Introduction What I need to know?
 The teacher will guide the learners on how to have a
walkthrough of the lesson expectations.
 In this part, the content of the lesson will be presented.
 Learning objectives will also be introduced to guide the
learners on the learning targets.

Through the use of printed material, the learners will be


guided and receive concept notes that will help them learn the
target lessons.

The teacher says:


Hello! Have you ever realized how important
communication is in our lives? It is the key to live a
successful life. Being able to communicate effectively is
one of the most important life skills one should acquire
for it almost helps all aspects of life- from personal to
professional life and everything that falls in between.
Surely you will enjoy the learning activities here as
they will give you opportunity to gain understanding
about communication-its nature, its process, and its five
basic functions.
What’s In?
Let the students react on the picture below. Analyze
their answers and note that this activity will serve as a
schema-unlocking activity on the concept of
communication. Thus, will bring out student’s
preconceptions of communication.

B. Development What’s New?

The students will be asked to look at the pictures


below. Then, ask them to Identify the different ways on
communicating with others.

Synthesize the answer of the students to


distinguish their ideas of communication. Facilitate it
like a game show host and encourage the students to be
more active and competitive in giving their ideas quickly.

What is it?

The learners will be provided with scenarios on the


importance and role of communication in daily lives. They
may have personal reflection on the importance of
communication in their day-to-day activities.

To strengthen the points of their personal reflection


and further develop their knowledge about
communication, the learners will proceed with reading
and personal discussion about the nature, process and
functions of communication.

Nature of Communication

 Discuss the definition and nature of


communication
 In discussing the second nature of
communication, note that communication can
also occur within single person.

Elements of Communication

 Discuss the elements of communication through


showing pictures/scenes depicting process of
communication or through playing a video of a
sample interaction .Have the students identify the
elements of communication exchange.

Functions of Communication

 Ask: What are some of the things you want to


achieve when you communicate something or why
do we communicate?
 Synthesize the answers and conclude that
communication serves different functions

B. Engagement What’s More?

The learners will do/perform the following activities


indicated in the module.

 Think of communication transactions in their


daily lives. They will enumerate situations where
communication takes place. Then, indicate the
result of the communication transaction and tell
whether it is successful or not by writing the
elements that made it so and specify its function
on the third column. Use a separate sheet of
paper to answer this.

This activity will help students in involving


themselves in deeper learning on the target concepts
about the nature, process and function of
communication.

What can I do?


Activity 1 : Comic Strip
The learners will perform Create a comic strip showing
how they would communicate to their community the
advantages of following health protocols and guidelines
amidst COVID-10 pandemic in their municipality or
province. They may cut-out pictures of people or
authorities to depict their character, but be sure to
write their own original scripts and texts.
