2. In lines 1-2, it means that when bird shooting season begins, the men in the community give
a lot of attention and time to their guns as if they were married to them.
3. The women are described as contentless because their husbands are so consumed in their
bird shooting that they do not pay them any attention, not even during the night.
4. During bird shooting season, the boys wish that they could grow up to be bird hunters too
while the girls are hoping that the birds would fly away. The girls have sympathy for the
birds so they hope that the birds could live longer compared to the boys that wish that they
could become bird hunters as well.
