1. Requirements
Version 16 of cadwork is supported by Microsoft Windows XP (with Service pack 2) and Windows Vista
(recommended Service pack 1). Your hard drive should have enough memory; approximately 2GB should
suffice.
Please keep in mind that Windows and cadwork both require virtual memory (swap space taken from the
hard disk). For example, large production lists cannot be calculated if not enough memory is available.
With Windows XP and Vista, the virtual memory can be set up by the user. Depending on the number of
files that are open, the virtual memory should never exceed 3 GB. Look in the manual for your operating
system to find how to change the size of virtual memory. It is also imperative to be using Microsoft .Net
Framework 1.1 + Service pack 1 or Version 2.0. However, these will be installed during the cadwork
installation process if not already present.
It is required that the screen resolution be at least 1280*1024 pixels or better with more than 256
colors. The current system service pack as well as the newest updates should also always be installed.
There is a requirement of at least 1024 MB of RAM, but 2048 MB is highly recommended.
2. Installation
Attention! For Windows Vista, the installation should be started from the user account from
which cadwork will be used. Here the cadwork_setup.exe must be carried out as the
administrator. (If administrative rights are not available, Vista will ask for them).
The setup starts automatically after inserting the cadwork installation CD into the
CD-drive. Please select "Install cadwork" in order to install the software.
The default language is the language used by your operating system, but can be
changed manually as well.
After the first installation welcome window, the licence contract appears. Once you
have read and accepted this, you can confirm by clicking on Next..
Next, you have to choose the folder where cadwork is to be saved. Please leave the
name "cadwork.dir" and choose a path that contains enough memory. (C:\ or D:\
etc.)
Attention! For Windows Vista, cadwork should be installed in the standard program directory
C:\Program Files.t).

2. Installation suite
There is only one standard setup. Here you have the choice between with catalog or
without catalog.
By choosing without catalog, the installation of the catalog will not be suggested once
the cadwork installation is complete.
Attention! Windows Vista users are highly advised to save the catalog on the User\Documents
path or in the public folder to have the required access rights!
The program is completely installed. You can leave the setup by clicking on "Finish".

3. Start installation manually
Should the installation not start automatically, it can be launched through the Start
menu.
In the menu Run... (Windows XP) or in Start Search (Windows Vista) type the path
for your CD/DVD ROM and setup.exe in order to start the installation.
Look at the exemples below.
Windows XP:
Windows Vista:
4. cadwork Start
When launching cadwork, by default you will be in the Program tab.
Here it is possible to enter the project (file) name at the bottom left, open previously
used files, or search for other available files by clicking on the folder.
At the top left, the desired cadwork version can be selected (normally the most recent current version).
In the center menu, all the available standard files for the respective module (2D, 3D, etc.) are listed.
By clicking on the tabs, it is possible to choose between the different modules.
By clicking on "Change"... you reach the window where all the client information may
be entered.
Please enter the information and choose the proper cadwork support office from the drop down menu.
Once the information is entered, you can return to the main page where the same
information has been updated.
By clicking on "System info" you have an overview of your system, paths for various
files, as well as the current versions of the cadwork modules. This is important when
communicating with the cadwork support team.
The E-Mail tab opens your default e-mail program and prepares an e-mail with the system information to be
sent to the cadwork support office. This email can then be supplemented with additional information.)
By clicking on Internet Homepage, your web browser opens the cadwork website. There, you can find
usefull information about your software.
5
5. Entering Client Information
Using Netviewer or Teamviewer, the cadwork support team can access remote computers. This enables us
to locate problems and fix them rapidly or to show clients how to use the software (Internet connection
needed).
6. cadwork configuration
cadwork can be configured by clicking on the Setup tab in the cadwork Start
application.
On the left, icons enable to access different configuration parameters.
6.1 Directories
The different paths used by cadwork can be checked and modified.
In Standard version, the user can define which version has to be launched when
"Double clicking" on a cadwork file.
If Userprofil, catalogs and projects directory are stored on a server, all users on the network can access the
same data. Access can be set by clicking on the … of each individual path.
The Temp. directory cannot be changed, the Windows temporary directory is being used.
6.2 Licence
On this page, users can request or load authorisation codes..
Like in the Support tab, client number as well as client info are displayed. By clicking on … , the user can
edit its own info.
The next line enables the user to choose 3 different licence options :
1. The Dongel ID (when using a Sentinel USB Dongel, brand: Sentinel, see chapter 6.6 for driver
installation).
2. The USB Memory ID (when using a cadwork USB stick, brand: Kingston, no driver required).
3.The Computer ID (coming from hardware and OS configuration). The licence is not portable/transferable
and usually provided for trial versions or when a dongle is defective.
Using the above set of data, a code can be computed.
There are several ways to send us a code request:
Click on @ to send an email with required data for us to compute a code or click on Print in order to fax us
your code request.
As soon as the code is available, an email will be sent.
By clicking on Download, the code can be automatically retrieved from our ftp site. Note that it is important
that your client number and info are up to date.
If your code is stored on the hard disk or on the network, click on "Browse..." to locate and load it (choose
node.16.demo or .cod). The last option is to click on "Enter code" in order to manually type your code.
Out-Of-Date protection:
Should the date of your OS be changed, cadwork will be switch to viewer automatically. In order to unlock
the out of date protection, contact the cadwork support team. The out of date button is only activated when
the licence has been locked. Note that in rare cases, the antivirus update can briefely change the date and
therefore lock the licence.

6.3 Configuration
In Select window size…
one can predefine the size in which cadwork will open.
Select a language...
You can choose the cadwork default language.
6.4 Backups
Under Security copies, the user can define the number of backups to create and
keep. Once the number of copies are done (if it exceeds 1), the next time a backup is
done, the oldest is deleted.
Backups directory
2 options are available for backups. 1- A backup folder is created for each directories
in which cadwork files are stored. 2- A specific location on a computer or on a server
can be defined for all backups to be done.
6.6 Install
The Install dongle button will install the latest driver required for your dongle to work
properly with cadwork version 16.
Note that administration rights are needed to install the dongle.
Sentinel USB Dongel (purple) should be unplugged after the driver installation!!
Kingston USB Stick (white) does not require a special driver!
Network licence
A server licence can be installed on Windows NT Server or Windows 2000/2003. This type of installlation is
usually provided to schools and universities. Contact us for more information.
This window shows you what applications can be updated thanks to a green arrow. If
you do not want to update an application, click on the arrow and it will be switched
to a red cross.
You might have to change the access protocol depending on your internet access
(firewall...).
