Bathing like the ancient Romans

Bathing recommendations for the Irish-Roman Bath


at the Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme
1st Round
1. Clean your body carefully
2. Dry off thoroughly

3. First warm up at 45°C or 6 to 8 minutes


4. Warm up at 60°C or 8 to 10 minutes

5. Warm up at 80° C 8 to 12 minutes


15 minutes maximum

6. Cool down in two stages:


First take a cold-water shower
then take a dip in the cold-water basin (22°C) total: 10 to 12 minutes

7. Warm foot bath 3 to 5 minutes

8. Take a warm bath in the warm-water basin at 37°C 5 to 10 minutes


9. Take a cold shower, towel off, breathe deeply, exercise
10. Take a steam bath at 45°C, 100% rel. humidity 10 to 15 minutes
11. Cool down in two stages, as described under no. 6 1 to 2 minutes
12. Warm foot bath 3 to 5 minutes
13. Rest, lie down (bathrobe, towel) 10 to 20 minutes

2nd Round
1 4. Warm up in the steam room at 45°C, 100% rel. humidity
or in the warm-air room at 60°C
or in the hot-air room at 80°C total: 12 to 15 minutes

1 5. Cool down in two stages as described under no. 6


16. Take a warm bath in the warm-water basin at 37°C
17. Cool down in two stages as described under no. 6 total: 10 to 12 minutes

18. Carefully dry off, breathe deeply, exercise

19. (Recommendation) Massage

Please note:
After an oil massage, the warm- and cold-water basins and the swimming pool may not be used without
thoroughly cleaning the body first.

20. Rest, lie down (bathrobe, towel)

All oft he temperatures and times are approximate values. (1°C = 33,8°F)
Increase your body temperature by a stay in the Tepidarium (40 to 45°C)
or in the Sudatorium (50 to 55°C)

Take a surge or Kneipp shower


Use the cold-water dip bath or the historical swimming pool (20 to 24°C)

Tropical Sleet – prickling refreshment

Russian Steam Bath (42 to 45°C)

Thermal Water Facilities


Wildbecken 42°C
Thermal hip bath
- either at a temperature of 40°C with massage nozzles
- or a temperature of 37°C in the whirlpool

Saunas:
Finnish Sauna
Infusion sauna with an air temperature of 85 to 90°C an 25% humidity

Sanarium
Stimulating pulsation of colored lights together with the aromas of ethereal oils
Air temperature: 55 to 60°C

Stone Steam Bath


Natural stones are heated and dipped into cold water. Continuous increase in humidity and room temperature.

The sequence of baths may be changed to meet your personal wishes. The recommended times indicated for
lengths of stays should not be exceeded, however.

Rest Zones:
Lumenarium: Dots of light in changing colors on the vaulted ceiling in the rest zone.

Frigidarium: Fresh-air room to cool down and relax

Please make an appointment for treatments, such as massages, Rasul, soft packs and sand bath ahead of time!

The sequence should be adjusted to your own physical perceptions.
