Deliverable II Notes:

Linear relationship

Null hypothesis and p-value

1. The null hypothesis states that there is no relationship between the variables
2. If the P-value is lower than 0.05, we reject the null hypothesis
a. Therefore, we are saying that there is a relationship between the variables/
b. The data is not consistent with the null hypothesis
3. If the p-value is high, we accept the null hypothesis
a. Therefore, we are saying that there is no relationship between the variables/
b. The data is consistent with the null hypothesis

Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient

1. Correlation coefficient is between ± 1

a. 1: perfect linear relationship
b. 0: no linear relationship
c. -1: negative linear relationship
