Family is considered the basic institution for the development of the children. It
plays a vital role in nurturing the good habits, values and attitudes necessary to be
successful in the near future. However, the increasing number of parents who worked
abroad is somehow affects the child’s development. This study aimed to determine
the differences of the four groups namely; female adolescents living with their
mother, female adolescents living with their father, male adolescents living with their
mother, and male adolescents living with their father which focus on the emotional
quotient.

This study was conducted in Adamson University wherein the respondents

came from different colleges. The researchers utilized the descriptive-comparative
method of research. A descriptive research is used to obtain information concerning
the current status of the phenomena to describe "what exists" with respect to variables
or conditions in a situation. Comparative research is used as a comparison of two or
more things with a view of discovering something as the nature of the phenomenon.
The researchers accepted the null hypothesis and rejected the alternative hypothesis
and based on the data presented, the researchers concluded that there is no significant
difference on the emotional quotient of female adolescents living with mother, male
adolescents living with father, female adolescents living with father and male
adolescents living with father.
