As the name suggests, Biosensors are analytical device that measures biological or
chemical reactions by generating signals proportional to the concentration of an
analyte in the reaction.

Introduction of novel functional nanomaterials and analytical technologies signify a
foremost possibility for the advance of electrochemical sensor and biosensor devices
for a broad series of applications like biomedical, biotechnological, clinical,
environmental and health monitoring
4.Frontier Application
1. 药物检测与分析 Drug detection & analyses
Electrochemical sensors and biosensors are interesting candidates for the detection
and quantification of drugs, because of their high sensitivity, low cost, and the speed
at which they are carried out.
Nanomaterials have often been used in the modification of bare electrodes in
electrochemical analysis. Novel electrochemical sensors based on nanomaterials
have gained special attention, due to their low cost and high sensitivity. In the
nanometer range, the surface area of materials greatly increase, resulting in new
phenomena, such as improvement in electrical conductivity, which make
nanostructure biosensors become the best choice in drug detection.
Fig. shows the general scheme of operation of an electrochemical sensor for drug analyse. In this
figure, the different ways of applying electric potential, as well as current response models
obtained by different voltammetry techniques, The active layer is designed to interact with the
analyte of interest, and produces a measurable signal once bound.
Outlook:
through literature reading, we found that there are still a series of problems that need further
improvement and research, such as insufficient sensitivity of the sensor and the specificity of the
sensing process for the corresponding chemical substances. Further advances in novel synthetic
approaches of functional nanomaterials and analytical sensing strategies will certainly inspire the
development of novel biosensors towards biomedical & biochemical applications.
We believe that with the progress of scientific research, there will be more efficient, sensitive and
convenient biosensors in the fields of drug treatment, health monitoring and other fields in the
future, according to the characteristics of various treatment drugs and biomolecules.
