Patterns possess utility and beauty.


We live in a universe of patterns!

Why do the cells of a honeycomb have a hexagonal form? The shape turns out to be economical: much honey is enclosed
by minimum beeswax.
All the sunflowers in the world show a number of spirals that are within the Fibonacci sequence

Mathematics is the art of patterns and connections embedded in nature and in our environment.
SYMMETRY IN NATURE
Something is symmetrical when it is the same on both sides.
A shape has symmetry if a central dividing line (a mirror line) can be drawn on it, to show that both sides of the shape
are exactly the same.
Reflectional symmetry or Bilateral symmetry
 when a line can be drawn to divide the shape into halves so that each half is a reflection of the other.
 That line is called the line of symmetry. A shape may have more than one symmetry lines of symmetry. (vertical,
horizontal, diagonal)
Rotational symmetry
 when it is rotated around a center point a number of degrees it appears the same.
 In other words when the shape still looks the same after some rotation of less than one full circle (360degrees).
Radial symmetry
 (a kind of rotational symmetry) means that a cone or disk shape is symmetrical around a central axis. Starfish, sea
anemones, jellyfish, and some flowers have radial symmetry.
PATTERN-Arrangement of things or objects following a rule or rules.

Number Patterns

Fibonacci Numbers
➢ are integers in the infinite sequence 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13 ... of which the first two terms are 1 and 1 and each
succeeding term is the sum of the two immediately preceding terms.
➢ The sequence is named after Fibonacci, also known as Leonardo of Pisa or Leonardo Pisano.
Logic Patterns
➢the ability to discover meaningful patterns in strange and unpredictable situations.
➢one kind of logic pattern deals with the characteristics of various objects while another kind deals with order
