WORKSHOP REPORT
(CNC EDM WIRE CUT)

1) TITLE: Machining specimen by using EDM Wire Cut.

2) INTRODUCTION

An electrothermal production process called wire EDM machining


(Electrical Discharge Machining) uses de-ionized water to conduct
electric current and to cut through metal using the heat generated by
electrical sparks. In spite of wire EDM's inherent properties, it is easily
able to machine complex components and parts out of hard conductive
materials. The wire-cut process uses water as its dielectric with the
water's resistivity and other electrical properties carefully controlled by
filters and deionizer units. The water also serves the very critical purpose
of flushing the cut debris away from the cutting zone. Flushing is an
important determining
factor in the maximum feed rate of material available in each thickness,
and poor flushing situations necessitate the reduction of the feed rate.

3) AIM/OBJECTIVE

There were objectives that needed to be achieved in this CNC EDM Wire-
Cut project. The objective was

1. To understand the function and feature provided by the CNC EDM


Wire-Cut machine.
2. To learn the tool and equipment needed while operating the
machine.

3. to understand the safety precaution when operate and handling of


CNC EDM Wire-Cut machine.

4) WORK MATERIAL/EQUIPMENT

1. Aluminium plat 2mm thickness

1. Work habits.
2. Security self.
3. Security when using the machine and equipment.
4. Housekeeping work.
