TOPIC
The modern concepts of education system realized that only good academic
record was not enough." Student Satisfaction or customer satisfaction " should also be the
core.
Students’ satisfaction as a short term attitude, resulting from an evaluation of a
students’ educational experiences . It is a positive antecedent of student loyalty and
Is the result and outcome of an educational system ,student
satisfaction as students’ disposition by subjective evaluation of educational outcomes
and experience student satisfaction as a function of relative level of experiences
and perceived performance about
educational service during the study period .Therefore Student satisfaction has
become an important source of quality assurance.

Some fairly consistent factors tend to emerge:

1. Education quality - course content and staff teaching
2. Social aspects and/or opportunities
3. Facilities and resources of the campus (DeVore & Handal, 1981; Garcia-Aracil, 2009).
Two university student satisfaction factors:
1. Academic aspects
2. Amenities and services

The College Student Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSSQ) classified six

dimensions of university satisfaction:
1. Policies and procedures
2. Working conditions
3. Compensation
4. Quality of education
5. Social life
6. Recognition

CHAPTER-2
Research is "creative and systematic work undertaken to increase the
stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humans, culture and society,
and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new applications." [1] It is
used to establish or confirm facts, reaffirm the results of previous work,
solve new or existing problems, support theorems, or develop new
theories. A research project may also be an expansion on past work in the
field. Research projects can be used to develop further knowledge on a
topic, or in the example of a school research project, they can be used to
further a student's research prowess to prepare them for future jobs or
reports. To test the validity of instruments, procedures, or experiments,
research may replicate elements of prior projects or the project as a whole.
The primary purposes of basic research (as opposed to applied research)
are documentation, discovery, interpretation, or the research and
development (R&D) of methods and systems for the advancement of
human knowledge. Approaches to research depend on epistemologies,
which vary considerably both within and between humanities and sciences.
There are several forms of research: scientific, humanities, artistic,
economic, social, business, marketing, practitioner research,
life, technological, etc.

Research is conducted with a purpose to understand:

 What do organizations or businesses really want to find out?

 What are the processes that need to be followed to chase the idea?
 What are the arguments that need to be built around a concept?
 What is the evidence that will be required that people believe in the idea or
concept?

Characteristics of Research
1. A systematic approach is followed in research. Rules and procedures are
an integral part of research that set the objective of a research process.
Researchers need to practice ethics and code of conduct while making
observations or drawing conclusions.

2. Research is based on logical reasoning and involves both inductive and

deductive methods.
3. The data or knowledge that is derived is in real time, actual observations in
the natural settings.

4. There is an in-depth analysis of all the data collected from research so that
there are no anomalies associated with it.

5. Research creates a path for generating new questions. More research

opportunity can be generated from existing research.

6. Research is analytical in nature. It makes use of all the available data so

that there is no ambiguity in inference.

7. Accuracy is one of the important character of research, the information that

is obtained while conducting the research should be accurate and true to its
nature. For example, research conducted in a controlled environment like a
laboratory. Here accuracy is measured of instruments used, calibrations, and
the final result of the experiment.
RESEARCH PROCESS:-

Research exercise may take many forms but systematic enquiry is features
common to all such forms. Being a systematic enquiry, it requires careful
planning of the orderly investigation process.

Stages in the research process:

In planning and designing a specific research project, it is necessary to

anticipate all the steps that must be undertaken if the project is to be
successful in collecting valid and reliable information.

The steps of marketing research process are highlighted in the following flow
diagram:
What is the purpose of Research?
There are three purposes of research:

1. Exploratory Research: As the name suggests, exploratory research is

conducted to explore the research questions and may or may not offer a final
conclusion to the research conducted. It is conducted to handle new problem
areas which haven’t been explored before. Exploratory research lays the
foundation for more conclusive research and data collection. For example, a
research conducted to know the level of customer satisfaction among the
patrons of a restaurant.

2. Descriptive Research: Descriptive research focuses on throwing more light

on current issues through a process of data collection. Descriptive studies are
used to describe the behavior of a sample population. In descriptive research,
only one variable (anything that has quantity or quality that varies) is required
to conduct a study. The three main purposes of descriptive research are
describing, explaining and validating the findings. For example, a research
conducted to know if top-level management leaders in the 21st century
posses the moral right to receive a huge sum of money from the company
profit?

3. Explanatory Research: Explanatory research or causal research, is

conducted to understand the impact of certain changes in existing standard
procedures. Conducting experiments is the most popular form of casual
research. For example, research conducted to understand the effect of
rebranding on customer loyalty.

To understand the characteristic of research design using research purpose
