CONCEPT ‘Sefer’ Apartment
Urban proposal
The Amharic word ‘sefer’ could be translated as village but in my projects context it is far more
than the word village. The word represents strong attachment of peoples to one another and The urban proposal sets guiding principles for the architectural project. It

Consecuti floor plans will be typical until the next communal space comes. In

Addressed sustainability issues with the proposed

building and systems used.

-Every communal space has a greenery cover which is used primarily to create connec-
tion of living environment with nature and refreshing the circulating air.

-This greenery coverage answers sustainability issue when we consider the effect of the
summation of all the communal spaces covered with plants. At least as much as the foot
print on which the building stand is covered with communal spaces and greenery.

-The social structure is maintained and people are not forced to change their lifestyle, in
fact the approach appreciates and enhances the way people used to live before redevel-
opment programs.

-The provision of trash shoot system that runs from the basement to the whole building
height enables us to save the energy and time that could be wasted. It will also be a
means to recycle waste materials by collecting it at one spot and disposing it in a catego-
rized manner.
