• In the midst of tackling the persistent burden of maternal mortality and
infectious diseases, Indonesia is facing an increasing burden of NCDs.

• Riskesdas: increasing prevalence of NCDs and risk factors during 2013-2018


• Diagnosed stroke (15+ y) increased by 56% (from 0.7 to 1.1%)
• Diagnosed diabetes mellitus increased by 23% (from 6.9 to 8.5%)
• Hypertension (18+ y) increased by 32% (from 25.8 to 34.1%)
• Obesity increased by 47% (from 14.8 to 21.8%)
• Physical inactivity increased by 28% (from 26.1 to 33.5%).
• Youth smoking increased by 26% (from 7.2 to 9.1%).
