SEMESTER II
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
A windscreen wiper is an essential device that come pre-installed in almost all motor vehicles
including trains, cars, buses, some aircrafts, watercrafts etc. Operation of these wipers in the
existing models is yet manual. The physical model of the operation includes two arms twirling at
one end back and forth over the glass. Hence there is need for automation.

INTRODUCTION:
The rain sensor will be placed on the vehicle front glass. Whenever the droplets of the rain on the
rain sensor, it will sense the rainfall and send Arduino the necessary information for the process to
carry on. The Arduino module will estimate the intensity of rain fall by manipulating the signal
given by the rain sensor module and then process the signal.

OBJECTIVES:
1. To Create a system which will operate without interference of the driver during rainfall.
2. To reduce the stress of operation for the drivers and also prevent distractions which might
cause accident and makes driving more comfortable during heavy rainfall.

OUTCOMES:
After completion of project, we will be able to
1. With the help of this idea any person who is having car can deploy our idea with cheap
and affordable system as this will encourage many automobile vehicle owners to acquire
the system.
2. This will also reduce accidents related to the use of wipers on the roads.

ABSTRACT:
The issue of driver's safety is of great importance in today's automotive industry. In many cases, a
lack of proper vision is responsible for accidents during heavy rainfall. In many cases, manual
errors like not increasing the speed of the wiper by the driver lead to accidents. Today's car wipers
work on the principle of manual switching. The automatic rain sensing car wiper system is not only
automatic but also intelligent. The wiper system detects the rainfall automatically and starts itself.
When the droplets of rainfall on the sensor, the sensor detects and start clearing the wind glass and
after rain is stopped wiper will be again backs to the rest position, No need for manual turning off.
PROJECT CATEGORY:

AUTOMATION

PROPOSED SYSTEM:

Block Diagram:

Details:
Proper vision is very important to the automobile drivers during heavy rainfall. Automatic wipers
do not only reduce the stress of operation for the drivers but also prevent distractions which might
cause accident and makes driving more comfortable during heavy rainfall.

REQUIREMENT OF RESOURCES AND LIMITATION:

Hardware:
1. Servo 9g Motor
2. LM393 IR Sensor
3. Rain Sensor PCB
4. Arduino Nano R3
Software:
1. Arduino IDE

IMPACT ANALYSIS:
According to WHO, more than 1.25 million people die every year because of road crashes and
mostly in rainy seasons. People end up dying because of small mistakes. Here we have forwarded
an attempt to reduce that number. The project is especially suited for car and also for any heavy
vehicles.

FUTURE SCOPE AND FURTHER ENHANCEMENT:

Future scope will be as we are using this model we will do again analysis of accidents happening
in the rainfall season by that we can add more automation techniques. In future, to advance the
movement and to change the system different sensors which are useful for this purpose can be
selected.

CONCLUSION:
The automatic car wiper system was developed to sense the rain and wipe the glass by moving
the windshield wipers. By using automatic car wiper system, the purpose of driver’s response to
control the wiper is automated. If you opt for using a wiper which is not only economical but also
efficient, using a rain sensor is the best.
