ABSTRACT

The incidence of phlebitis is one of the health problems that occurs in various countries in the
world, including Indonesia, and is the highest number of infectious diseases in health
services. The quality committee in preventing phlebitis is looking for a solution through the
FMEA (failure mode and effect analysis) method which recommends that the solution is to
carry out socialization, training and supervision to implementing nurses, but the incidence of
phlebitis has not decreased. This study aims to determine the relationship between
recommendations for transparent dressing FMEA (failure mode and effect analysis) solutions
with the clinical ability of nurses in preventing phlebitis at the Ibnu Sina Islamic Hospital,
Padang. This type of research is quantitative with analytical descriptive design. Probability
sampling sampling technique, data collection tools are questionnaires and observation sheets,
The data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate using chi square test. Univariate results
showed that most of the nurses were in early adulthood and almost all nurses were female.
When viewed from the level of education, most of them are qualified nurses and have been
working for a long time. The bivariate results showed that there was no significant
relationship between the implementation of socialization and the clinical ability of nurses
including knowledge and skills. While the implementation of training there is a significant
relationship with the increase in knowledge of nurses, but not significant relationship
between the implementation of training with increasing skills of nurses. The implementation
of supervision has a significant relationship with the clinical ability of nurses, namely
increasing the knowledge of nurses and nurses' skills in infusion and infusion care using
transparent dressings.
