Assessments (Examinations)

Typically, examinations are held in-person at an authorised examination centre. There are over 500
authorised examination centres around the world.

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak the University may offer alternative assessment methods
where necessary. These include online timed assessments in place of written examinations, which are
usually held at examination centres.

The assessment method will be confirmed by the University 2 to 3 months prior to the examination
session to allow students to have sufficient time for planning and preparation.

There are two assessment (examination) sessions per year: May examinations (can register for up to 120 credits)
and October/November examinations (can register for up to 60 credits)

Your first session will take place in May/June 2023 (1 May - 28 May), and will cover your Study Session 1 courses
(that you will be registering for this registration period)

Textbooks (Year 1/100-level courses)

Students are asked to budget approximately £300 per year for textbooks for their own independent sourcing. We’re able to
provide guidance around textbooks that would be considered fundamental (necessary) versus those that would be encouraged
but not required for exam success.

The textbook list (for all courses across all EMFSS Online Taught Degree Programmes) will be attached to the Post-Programme
Orientation email that you will receive from your dedicated Student Success Advisor over the next 24 hours.
