Overview
Mass Change Bill of Material (BOM) is standard Oracle functionality to make changes in bills.
BOM mass changes can be applied on Engineering and Manufacturing bills as well. By using
mass changes user can add, modify, or delete existing components from the Bill. Purpose of this
document is to explain the functionality and uses of BOM Mass change process.

Prerequisites
1, Define Mass Change Type
Navigation: PPP-BOM SUPERUSER-SE PLANT  Setup  Change Types

These types are already defined in system. If needed, new types can be defined. Change
approvals can be implemented by using Processes.

2. You must have at least one BOM in the system.

Details
This section provides details about Mass change form.

Navigation: PPP-BOM SUPERUSER-SE PLANT  Bills  Mass Changes

Below is the screen shot of the Mass Change form.

Number: Enter any number or text. This is a reference number for mass changes.
Type: Mass changes types mentioned in the prerequisites section.
Description: Is the free text.
Effective Date: Effective date for the change. As per Oracle documentation this is applicable for
Engineering only.
Increment Revision: If checked, increment the revision of the assembly item by 1. Revision will
be incremented for numeric type only. If revision is maintained what character or alpha
numeric style, revision will not be incremented.

Update Jobs / Schedules: Indicate whether to update WIP material requirements for any
unreleased jobs only. Material requirements will not be changed on released jobs.

Parent Items section provides the details about the items which will be selected for mass
changes. You can select items by using a category set, categories, or items. Provide assembly
items only in the items text.

Click on Changes button to enter the component changes.

Add, Update and Disable options are available on Component Changes form or you can update
existing information about the component on the parent item.

Similarly provide all parameters on Component Details, Material Control, Order Entry and
Shipping tabbed regions.

Caution: If you do not wish to replace the values for the Supply Type, Supply Subinventory,
and Supply Locator fields, you must enter the current value when executing a mass change.

Once done close the Component Changes form. Control goes to Mass Change Bills form.

Actions:
Report: Select Report to see affected bills.
Implement: Select Implement to apply the changes on Bill.

Submit: This will submit a concurrent request.

Process Examples

Mass Update on Specific Item

a. Consider bill for assembly 00030997

Remove/disable item 00030925 from the bill Effective Today (14-DEC-2020)

Also bill changes should reflect on jobs.

Create a Mass update and run as below:

Select Actions Report and Implement and hit Submit.

Check the request.

Check the Bill and Jobs after request completed successfully.

Component 00030925 is gone away from the bill.
Check the jobs.

Whereas it is removed in the unreleased jobs.

Bill changes should be reflected on jobs scheduled to start after 22-DEC-2020.

Go to PPP-BOM SUPERUSER – SE PLANT  Bills  Item WhereUsed

Provide item 00030925

Click on Find.

In all bills 2 units of 00030925 are used.

Let us update quantity 5 for component 00030925 where it is 2 from 23-Dec-2020.

Click on Changes.

Here mass changes will check all assemblies where component 00030925 with units 2 is used.
This is the matching criteria. Suppose there is one assembly with quantity 4 for 00030925, mass
change will not update that assembly.

Similarly provide change attributes form other tab pages( Component Details, Material Control,
Order Entry and Shipping ) as per requirement.

Close component changes form.

Tick mark Report and Implement.
Report will provide all the records which are updated by mass change process.
Implement will perform changes. If this is not ticked, mass changes process does not apply
changes.

Finally Click on Submit.

Ensure that below concurrent requests completed normal.

Check output for request “Engineering Change Order Schedule Report”. Attached for reference.

Verify the BOMs where component 00030725 is used.
