Hello! This subject will be with you for the entire term. Let us start with this easy one. What do
you
understand with the word GLOBAL? How about the word TOURISM? Use the space provided
for your
answer.

GLOBAL is relating to the whole world.

TOURISM is the activities of people traveling to and staying in places outside their usual environment
for leisure, business or other purposes for not more than one consecutive year.

ASSESSMENT:
1. What is relationship of Tourism with Geography? How important is Geography in relation to
Tourism? Tourism geography is that branch of human geography that deals with the study of travel and
its impact on places. Geography is fundamental to the study of tourism,
because tourism is geographical in nature.

2. What are the four (4) branches of geography? Explain each in your own words.
human geography- dealing with how human activity affects or is influenced by the earth's surface.

physical geography- The scientific study of the natural features of the earth's surface.

Oceanography- covers a wide range of topics including marine life and ecosystems ocean circulation.

Regional Geography- It focuses on the interaction of different cultural and natural geofactors in a
specific land or landscape.

3. What is the difference between Local Mean Time and Greenwich Mean Time? Illustrate by
using
time zones between two (2) countries.
4. Label the map below by listing the countries covered by the Tropic of Cancer and the
countries
covered by the Tropic of Capricorn on the line provided.
