According to Malcolm X being truly literate allow you to "express yourself
properly" by being able to describe your thoughts, feelings, or emotions through
words, while on the other side being articulate in the "hustling world" is Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, both demonstrated "the power of written language". As we know Malcolm was imprisoned, but through writing and reading, he escaped the tough reality he was in to be able to think more about himself and understand his own world. Once he reached the end of his learning he was literally free, and this demonstrates how language can be liberating. Indeed, it's possible to be a prisoner of your own language, taking Malcolm X's example where he said that he "became increasingly frustrated at not being able to express what he wanted to convey in letters that he wrote," shows how language can have a big power over us.
