Like the sun is the source of our heat, the
Antarctic is the world's largest source of
cold, and it has a significant influence on
our climate, [Jacques] Cousteau informed the
camera. Its upwellings assist in cooling both
the surface water and our atmosphere when the
cold ocean water surrounding Antarctica moves
north to mingle with milder water from the
tropics. However, human activity now poses a
threat to this regulatory system's
vulnerability. Citation took from "Captain
Cousteau, Audubon (May 1990): 17

The twenties were the years when drinking was
illegal, and the law was a farce because
everyone knew of a local bar where liquor could
be obtained. Those were the years when organized
crime ruled the cities and the police seemed
helpless to stop it. Classical music was
forgotten as jazz spread across the country, and
young people idolized men like Bix Beiderbecke,
Louis Armstrong, and Count Basie. The flapper
was born in the twenties, and with her bobbed
hair and short skirts, she symbolized America's
break with the past perhaps more than anyone or
anything else. English 102 Supplemental Guide,
Kathleen Yancey(1989): 25.

Matisse is one of the best modern realist
painters; he was able to immerse the audience in
the situation and make them feel as though they
were there. "The Casbah Gate," one of his most
well-known paintings, depicts a popular gateway
Bab el Aassa, which pierces the city’s southern
wall near the sultan’s palace. The Casbah Gate
was well illustrated by Matisse's use of several
colors, including tones of ivory, aqua, blue,
and rose. He depicted the conditions in Tangier
as he drew the gate porter who sits and watches
the people or the travelers who passing through
the gate. “Bright Lights” Newsweek (March 26,
1990)

Although the Sears Tower is undoubtedly the
best example of skyscraper engineering to
date, architects and engineers are unlikely
to give up on the idea of creating the
highest structure in the world. Exactly how
tall can a building get is the question.
William LeMessurier, a structural engineer,
has created a skyscraper that is twice as
tall as the Sears Tower and is almost half a
mile tall. Additionally, according to
architect Robert Sobel, 500-story buildings
may be built with current technology. From
"Reaching for the Sky" by Ron Bachman, Dial
(May 1990): 15.

1. Storms that develop in the Atlantic Ocean or the
eastern Pacific Ocean is called ‘hurricane,’ it is a
powerful cyclonic storm with a circular pattern on the
inside. Hurricanes have different names depending on
the ocean they formed, they commonly develop in warm,
tropic oceans by taking evaporated seawater. In North
Pacific it is called a ‘typhoon,’ and a ‘cyclone’ in
most of the rest of the world. Hurricanes have a wind
speed of more than 75 miles per hour and have a central
point called the eye. Hurricanes weaken on land due to
the lack of energy from its supply, land also has a
rougher surface causing friction to the air which
results in the loss of power.

3. Laser has been restricted by imagination. A
powerful laser beam that can be focused in a small
spot with a huge power density. Consequentially it
can cause a material to heat up, burn or melt and
vaporize in a precise manner. Laser has been used
in drilling holes in diamonds, it was also
attempted to be induced on a controlled nuclear
fusion and a lot more. Laser beams were also used
for alignment in the construction of the transit
system in San Francisco.
