Dear Superintendent Bell and Members of the Trumansburg Board of Education,
Itis my pleasure to write this letter in support of Shanley Richard's tenure as a Special Education teacher here
at Charles O. Dickerson High School. tis truly a privilege to be able to make this recommendation on her
behalf
Shanley brings with her an exceptional skill set as a dual certified teacher in Special Education and Science.
This skill set has allowed her to become an integral part of both our Special Education and our Science
departments, She has served a co-teacher with multiple teachers in Earth Science and in Living Environment.
‘She was also responsible for the creation of our ‘pre-Biology" course which serves general education and
special education students who need additional support to prepare for the Living Environment course and
associated regents exam.
‘Shanley has been a leader in our Special Education department though her knowledge of technology and ability
to use that technology creatively to support students. One of Shanley's innovations was the use of new
software that she brought to the district to support students who needed tests read to them. She collaborated
with her department colleagues and our school psychologist to pilot this system which greatly enhanced our
students’ ability to receive direct test modifications more efficiently and effectively,
‘Over her time in Trumansburg, Shanley has repeatedly demonstrated her wilingness to work collaboratively
with her peers and to accept constructive feedback. She has shown tremendous growth as a case manager
and is a model of continuous improvement as an educator, Shanley has continually worked to improve her skills
‘as a case manager and has worked closely with administration and our school psychologist to build her skills as
an author of IEP's.
| strongly recommend Shanley Richards for tenure in Trumansburg and look forward to working alongside her in
support of our students.
Sincerely,
fon Koeng
