Reading 4 What did Sally see in the snow when she

Then she remembered she had left her bag
on the kitchen table. She checked it quickly. But
everything was still there – her passport, purse,
and keys. It was not a thief, so some questions
remained unanswered. What had happened? Who
had been in the house? Where did the footprints lead
to? She decided to find out. So she put on her coat,
hat and boots and went outside. It was about 50
metres from the cottage to the edge of the forest.
She followed the footprints for a few minutes
and then, suddenly, they stopped …
