iPhone 14: Cop or Drop?

Once again, Apple has released a new phone; The iPhone 14. For the cost starting at
₱56,990, The iPhone 14 delivers the essentials, like an appealing display, superb quality and
design, all-day battery life, smooth performance, and excellent cameras, for a solid everyday
experience. The iPhone 14 carries over nearly all its appearance and design from last year’s
iPhone 13, which itself was very much the same as the iPhone 12. Apple tends to stick with its
current external designs, which makes it hard to convince people to buy the new phone, if it
looks the same as the past designs. The biggest visual difference in design between the iPhone 14
and iPhone 13 is the color palette which are: Blue, Midnight, Purple, and Starlight.
In comparison to the iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 is 0.01 inch thicker and 0.07 ounce lighter,
measuring 5.78 by 2.82 by 0.31 inches (HWD) and weighing 6.07 ounces. Its size and weight are
incredibly comfortable and should work for most users. With a frame made of high-quality
aluminum, and a front display shielded by Apple’s Ceramic Shield, an aerospace-grade
aluminium and is rated IP68. This makes it dust and splash resistant and able to withstand being
submerged up to six meters for up to 30 minutes. The screen on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13 are
similar in every way. The Super Retina XDR OLED has a diagonal measurement of 6.1 inches
and a pixel density of 460ppi with 2,532 by 1,170 pixels. With a maximum brightness of 1,200
nits and a contrast ratio of two million to one, it typically emits 800 nits of light (peak).
But what about the battery? An issue that we’ve experienced with the past models is that
the battery drains too quick and takes too long to charge. Well, the iPhone 14 shares the same
3,227mAh battery capacity as the iPhone 13, but is slightly greater in battery life thanks to the
lightly tweaked A15 bionic processor in the iPhone 14. In a test conducted by Tom’s Guide
which shows the ranking of battery life in each smartphone, the iPhone 14 clocks in at 2 nd place,
with its outstanding time of 15 hours and 30 minutes, while the iPhone 13 lasted 12 hours and 16
minutes. In its testing, Tom's Guide found that the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max only drained 30% in 5
hours while downloading apps, listening to music, and taking pictures and videos. When it
comes to charging, the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max can charge up to 50% in less than 30 minutes! But
there’s one feature that sets the iPhone 14 apart from all it’s past designs; the Dynamic Island.
It uses the area at the top of the iPhone's screen in a fresh and inventive way. The
Dynamic Island can show basic information and notifications, but it can also appear to expand in
size to reveal additional information, unlike the notch in the past iPhones. which is static and
occupies space. Users have a new way to interact with their iPhone by tapping on it. With all that
being said, is it really worth, to ditch your old iPhone, and cop the latest iPhone 14? If you’re
using an iPhone 11 and below then yes, you should buy the latest iPhone 14. But, as someone
who currently owns an iPhone 13 Pro Max, I wouldn’t recommend upgrading to the iPhone 14.
There isn’t really much of a difference. There isn’t a big difference to note here. This year’s
iPhone 14 and last year’s model have a lot in common, coming in the same size, with the same
display, the same processor and almost identical camera systems. I do think there are some

reasons to go for the newer 14, because it has a couple of photo and video upgrades, and a
marginally more battery life. But aside from that, I wouldn’t recommend throwing away your
iPhone 13 for the iPhone 14.
