SONGKOK
WAYANG
Wayang, also known as wajang (Javanese: ꦮꦪꦁ, romanized: wayang), is a traditional form
of puppet theatre play originating from the Indonesian island of Java. Wayang refers to the
entire dramatic show. Sometimes the leather puppet itself is referred to
as wayang. Performances of wayang puppet theatre are accompanied by a gamelan orchestra
in Java, and by gender wayang in Bali.
SAA PAPER
The traditional saa paper from Laos is made from the mulberry bark cut and pounded into
small pieces. After being soaked in water, they are boiled and then soaked in alkaline, then
rinsed and beaten with a wooden mallet.
LOY KRATHONG
Loy Krathong is a Thai festival celebrated annually throughout the Kingdom of
Thailand and in nearby countries with significant South Western Tai cultures
(Laos, Shan, Mon, Tanintharyi, Kelantan, Kedah and Xishuangbanna). The name could be
translated as "to float ritual vessel or lamp," and comes from the tradition of
making krathong or buoyant, decorated baskets, which are then floated on a river. Many
Thais use the krathong to thank the Goddess of Water, Phra Mae Khongkha (Thai: พระแม่
คงคา) or to worship the Buddha's hair pagoda in the heaven. This festival can see the traces of
its origin back to both India and China.
SILK PAINTING
Silk painting is the traditional Vietnamese art of silk painting which originates from
painting and drawing on home made rice paper. Today this art has become famous around the
world for its simple poetic themes and vibrant colors. Vietnamese artists find the technique to
be a unique way to create mystique in their paintings.
HANDICARTF OF CAMBODIA
Cambodian art has been vibrant for centuries. Traditional Cambodian art refers to art from the
Khmer period 802-1431 AD, when many of the famous Angkor temples were built and
inhabited by Hindu, and then Buddhist, scholars and artists. Among the many temples, the
most splendid is Angkor Wat, originally Hindu then Buddhist.
