Message f Dear prospective participants, = The best infectious medicine competition, SIMPIC, is coming back once again. After being well-known for 9 years as a world-class medical competition, SIMPIC has welcomed thousands of top-ranked medical students from 87 medical schools in 4 continents to compete, meet and greet. This year, Siriraj International Medical Microbiology, Parasitology and Immunology Competition or SIMPIC will be held as a hybrid competition, in the name of SIMPICSED or SIMPIC Special Edition. Exclusively, SIMPICSED has removed the attendant barriers for medical students around the globe, including IFMSA members. By organizing both On-site and Online events, SIMPICSED keeps the standard of our competition both First round and the famous Stage round competition. Every participant gets the opportunity to be the winner of SIMPICSED. On-site delegates will be competing in the original fashion, while online competitors join from their places on an international-accepted examination platform. As all of you know, the situation of COVID-19 pandemic is inevitable. SIMPICSED has been well-planned to be adaptable in many circumstances while weighing the risk and benefits of our delegates as our first priority. You may see the details of our policy concerning COVID-19 situation on page 13. Moreover, we foresee the importance of pandemic-related knowledge among future doctors, particularly in an international setting that you will experience in SIMPICSED. Since 2012, friendships among us have always been the cornerstone of SIMPIC. On-site SIMPICSED will exclusively hold activities and parties. An international platform for medical students who wish to challenge themselves, get to know others, and seek for inspiration. Exclusively for this year, we are officially partnering with IFMSA-Thailand. SIMPICSED includes both academic and leisure activities. You will get a wonderful experience of comprehensive examination in the field of Microbiology, Parasitology and Immunology; and get inspired through a special workshop in the field of infectious disease and healthcare system in Thailand. Yet, the most valuable thing to be gained from SIMPICSED is friendships connecting various medical schools, As SIMPICSED is a special edition of SIMPIC, this event will be held on both ‘on-site’ and ‘online’ platforms. Many special activities, such as walk rally workshops and private parties, will be exclusively held in the ‘on-site’ event at Siriraj hospital. ACCOMMODATION Participants may be accommodated at S.D. Avenue Hotel, a luxury hotel, where transportation between hotel and competition venue are provided at scheduled time. The hotel is your accommodation of choice during this competition. You can decide based on your own preference Hotel cost is not included in the registration fee; however we have made arrangements with the hotel to accommodate all delegates at an affordable price. COMPETITION VENUE Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University 2 Thanon Arun Amari, Khwaeng Siriraj, Khet Bangkok-Noi, Bangkok 10700 Siriraj hospital will be the main venue for SIMPICSED. Being both a hospital and university campus, Siriraj Hospital has various facilities to offer Library - immerse yourself in the massive collection of medical texts. Feel free to explore our lovely hospital and make yourselves at home. # Registration process All information related to dates and times stated below is based on GMT+7 time zone (local time in Thailand), Please note that the process will be done through our official website: www.simpicofficial.org Upon the account registration, you will receive the username and password, which will be used throughout the application process. © The competition date The SIMPICSED will be held during 12-14 MARCH 2021. = Competition Criteria Only medical students, either in preclinical or clinical years, are eligible to apply for the competition. Each medical school can apply a maximum of 3 representative teams, 1 team for online competition and 2 teams for on-site competition. Each representative team must consist of 4 medical students, and (optional) 1 advisor. International medical schools: Each medical school can apply @ maximum of 3 representative teams. Due to COVID-19, All of the representative teams are required to compete in the online competition. However, if the COVID-19 situation is alleviated and the representatives accept all the quarantine conditions and government issues, you may request a change to on-site competition within Dec 19, 2020 and decide within the payment period. Each representative team must consist of 4 medical students, and (optional) 1 advisor. Notably, as an official partner with IFMSA-Thalland, IFMSA members from any NMO will be given special quotas to attend the competition. Due to COVID-19, All of the representative teams are required to compete in the online competition. However, if the COVID-19 situation is alleviated and the representatives accept all the quarantine conditions and government issues, you may request a change to on-site competition within Dec 19, 2020 and decide within payment period. Each NMO can send a maximum of 3 representative teams, consisting of 4 medical students from any medical school from the NMO region. *The substitution of candidates after registration is not permitted without necessity. On-site competition ° Early period: Nov 8 - Noy 21, 2020 Registration fee 9,600 THB (approximately 300 USD) Regular period: Nov 22 - Dec 19, 2020 Registration fee 10,080 THB (approximately 315 USD) Announcement of qualified teams: Jan 3, 2021 Payment period and extra information: Jan 4-Jan 22, 2021 Payment must be made via PayPal or International transfer within the payment period (Payment will be confirmed in the official website within 10 days upon the proof of payment submission.) Extra information submission: you will be required to fill in the extra information within the same period as payment. Official announcement of competitor list: Jan 24, 2021 * Due to our limited seat, qualified applicants will be selected based on the motivation letter and the short essay submitted. Registration fee covers the following expenses - Academie competition, workshop and parties - Transportation between the hotel and the competition venue is provided daily at the scheduled time. Meals and snack breaks during the competition and two special parties, welcome and farewell parties. * Registration fee excludes the accommodation, flight tickets and transportation neither leaving nor arriving at the airport. Importantly, we recommend you to book a return flight on Mar 15, 2021. The paid-team will be refunded the difference. * The decision is when the government announced nat to hold such a meeting or conference. On-site regulation | Due to the COVID-19 situation, our team concerns a lot about our delegates’ safety.
