A favorite of pro players from George Barnes to Herb Elis and Wes ‘Montgomery, the L-SCES has been Gibsons topline 17" electric guitar ever since, ‘This gleaming guitar i one of just 29 examples shipped inthe second model yea, withthe lustrous Cremona sunburst finish. The instrument shows classic features including fllewid 111/16" nu, engraved adjustable Varitonear-deco tailpiece, and the ulripremium gold Kluson Sealfast tuners. Most, intriguing, the guitars fited with a pair of Gibsoa’s legendary Alnico V ‘staple’ pickups enacting cone SSE ®A revolutionary design of considerable ingenuity, these pickups were fitted with rectangular polepicces, ach of which was a separate magnet. This produced a pickup far more powerful han tho standard P-90 single coil, but was also much more mechanically sophisticated, with an elaborate adjustable riser mechanism for each polepice.
