DR.H. SYAHRUL YASIN LIMPO

DR.H. Syahrul Yasin Limpo is the second child of the couple H.Muh.Yasin
Limpo with Hj.Nurhayati Yasin Limpo.Syahrul was born in Ngawing,Makassar on
Mach 15,1955.Syahrul Yasin Limpo currently serves as the first directly elected
Governor of South Sulawesi.Before serving as Governor,Syahrul Yasin limpo
served as Regent in Gowa Regency for two terms,Syahrul Yasin Limpo served as
Regent in Gowa Regency for two terms,then served as Deputy Goversor for one
period accompanying Amin Syam,before finally winning the battle with Amin
Syam in the 2007 South Sulawesi regional election after both of them ran as
incumbent candidates.

In the 2007 South Sulawesi regional election,Syahrul Yasin Limpo was

paired with Agus Arifin Numang (at that time the chairman of the South
Sulawesi DPRD) who was one of the leaders of the South Sulawesi Golkar DPD.
The pair was carried by a coalition Parti of Struggle (PAN), the National
Democratic Party (PDK) and the Prosperous Peace Party (PDS).

Meanwhile, Syahrul’s toughest rival, Amin Syam, who is also the

chairman of the South Sulawesi Golkar DPD, was promoted by a coalition of the
Golkar Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Prosperous Justice
Party (PKS) and the other smaller parties. After undergoing intense competition,
Syahrul Yasin Limpo finally won the 2007 South Sulawesi gubernational election
with his running mate, Agus Arifin Nu’mang.
The governor who is famous for the tagline “Dear” (Sayang is an
abberevation of Syahrul Yasin Limpo-Agus Arifin Nu’mang ) has started to realize
his ideas,including free education and free health.Syahrul revealed that the
basic thing in prospering the people and making a nation developed lies in the
level of education of a people on nation and the basic human right is actually
health,because a nation will not prosper if its health is not taken care of.
 Therefore, Syahrul Yasin Limpo tried to realize this idea, and now it can
be seen realized in Gowa district and other areas up to high school level. In the
health sector, hospitals appointed by the government provide free medical fees,
namely serving patients by only accepting payments for photocopies of ID cards
and family cards.

President Joko Widodo announced Syahrul Yasin Limpo as Minister of

Agriculture during an introduction Palace on Wendnesday (23/10/2019). On He
was set to be includedin the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet after previously
coming to the palace wearing a white shirt and black pants on Tuesday
(22/10/2019)

To the media crew after meeting president Jokowi,Syahrul Yasin Limpo

said that he was given mandate to meet the needs of the Indonesia people in
agriculture

As minister Agriculture in jokowi’s advanced Indonesia cabinet,syahrul

yasin limpowas born in makassar ,south Sulawesi ,on march 16 ,1955.he is the
son off the late Muhammad yasin limpo ,a leader of the south Sulawesi
movement ,with his mother nurhayati yasin limpo.

His career in the south Sulawesi provincial government began when he

was appointed as a civil servant in 1980 . important positions he has held
include regional secretary for level II gowa regency in 1991,as well as head of
public relations bureau for satwilda level I In 1993 . his political career began
when he became a golkar cadre , and was trusted as regent of gowa regency
from 1994 to 2002

After that he rose to accompany amin syam as deputy governer of south

Sulawesi from 2003 to 2008 before challenging amin .together with his partner
agus Arifin Nu’mang, syahrul yasin limpo was the first directly elected leader of
south Sulawesi
 He held this position fot two terms,from 2008 to 2018 .since 2018 , he has
moved feom golkar to Nasdem . Syahrul Yasin Limpo will be the minister of
agriculture to replace Arman Sulaiman who is also from south Sulawesi.
