Answer :

1. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
a. master the basic principles of teaching English to young learners, characteristics of young
learners, and syllabus for young learners;
b. master and implement practical skills at teaching elementary and kindergarten students;
c. select and use various instructional materials and strategies;
d. design appropriate and inexpensive instructional media for language teaching and learning:
electronic and non-electronic instructional media;
e. design and conduct learning assessment
f. applying the basic principles of teaching English to young learners
2. The topic that will learn in this course :
Meeting Topics :
1 = Discussion on course profile
2-4 = The theories of learning development
5 & 6 = The models of teaching young learners : theory and practice for language components:
sounds, vocabulary and grammar
7 & 8 = The models of teaching young learners : theory and practice for language skills: listening,
speaking, reading and writing
9 & 10 = Instructional media of teaching young learners: non electronic and electronic
11 & 12 = The theory of how to manage a classroom for young learners.
13 = The theory of selecting and developing learning materials for young learners including
theme-based instructional materials.
14 = Midterm test (project)
15 = Assessment for young learners.
16 = Final test (project)
3. There are 16 meetings will the course take.
4. There are two aspects contributing to the final grade: (1)attendance and participation in class;
and (2) completion of the assessment tasks. The assessment tasks should be completed 100% ,
comprising of quizzes (15%), simulation (20%), midterm test (25%), and final test (30%). Your
active participation during class discussion (10%) is also appreciated and well-considered (as
extra points).
To demonstrate your understanding of the subject EYL, you will complete 4 (four) assessment
tasks during the semester. In addition, there are three kinds of assessment: teacher assessment
(70%), peer assessment (30%), and self assessment. Please carefully review the assessment
summary and detail, rubrics, and submission requirements.
