HOW DOES THE NEW INTERFACE SOLVE THE PROBLEM IDENTIFIED IN THE
CURRENT INTERFACE?

 High capacity

The new lift has a capacity of twenty to thirty persons compared to the older lift's 15 to 20
maximum passengers. It is a slight bit bigger than the first lift. The wait time for the
elevator is not too long for users.

 Braille lift button

The characteristic of the elevator button that a blind person can use is that it has a raised
marking that can accommodate a braille numeral. The dots make it easier for blind
persons to read the button's purpose. By touching it with their fingertips, they may feel it.

 Elevator for disabled people

There is wheelchair accessibility in these elevators. We have incorporated wheelchair


accessibility as well as safeguards for hearing and visually impaired people. The elevators
have larger, extended doors, the elevator structure is visible from the outside, and you can
go through the elevator carriage without turning your wheelchair. The elevator has voice
guiding, and in an emergency, a television will show the important information.

 Combining buttons

We enhanced the constraint concept by integrating the bell and help buttons into a single
bell button. In an emergency, the user can choose just one option in this way and won't be
confused about which button to press. There is only one button, and it is obvious that the
speaker above it can be used to communicate. The elevator mechanic and building
security staff would be informed by pressing this bell button.

 Waiting for elevator arrival

The user clicks the button and then waits for the elevator to come. Before one of the two
elevators actually arrives, the user has no idea which of the two is on the way.
Furthermore, there is no signal of the distance or expected arrival time of an elevator. So
that the user is not left in total mystery, provide information about the present location of
each elevator and which elevator is arriving.

 Cancel button

Floor cancellation is a straightforward process for passengers. A floor button lights up


after being chosen. The user hard presses (holds) the floor button to cancel a floor. When
the floor is no longer selected, the light turns off to let the user know. There must be a
way to turn off buttons that have been pressed but are doing nothing. This might be
accomplished by merely changing the firmware such that when a hard-pressed (hold)
button is pressed a second time, it deactivates and the elevator does not stop on that floor.
 Evelator exit

When the door opens, if one does not look up at the number above the door, they will not
know which floor they are on because all floors appear to be the same. Many times,
people step out of the elevator thinking they exited on the right floor. Give a clear
indication of the elevator's floor using an additional indicator, such as one that is audio-
based.

WHICH EVALUATION METHODS CAN BE USED TO ASSESS THE INTERFACE?

Heuristic Evaluation

- Visibility of system status

The system should always keep users informed about what is going on, through appropriate
feedback within reasonable time.

- Match between system and the real world

The system should speak the users’ language, with words, phrases and concepts familiar to the user,
rather than system-oriented terms.

- Consistency and standards

Users should not have to wonder whether different words, situations, or actions mean the same
thing. Follow behavior user except and platform conventions.

- Recognition rather than recall

Making objects, actions, and options visible. Make navigation visible and make it easy to go back, go
to home page and quit. This elevator would be usable only to those who are familiar with this god-
awful numbering system that possibly only the ones who use it every day.

- Aesthetic and minimalist design

Dialogues should not contain information that is irrelevant or rarely needed. In other words, present
only necessary information for the task, rarely used information should be in secondary screens or
windows.
