1. Create your own identity web by listing down physical and personality traits, beliefs, and values,
religious affiliation, and sexual orientation among others, that you think best describe you. You can
also write down how you think other people perceive and describe you. You may include some
background about yourself, your hobbies, or interests, even your general preference. You can add
lines and circles to your identity web if you wish to.

2. After completing your identity web, answer the following questions:

A). Among the things that you have listed in the identity web, which do you think make you a Filipino?
Explain your answer briefly.

− One of the characteristics of a Filipino is respect, which leads me to believe that I am one.
B). What particular factors do you think influenced (could either strengthen or weaken) the formation
of this particular Filipino identity? How do they influence such identity?

− Someone who appreciates me as a human being and for who I am is one thing that can help me
build my Filipino identity.

C). How do you think the colonial experience of Filipinos influence the Filipino identity?

− The findings show that colonial mindset plays a significant role in family socialization, as it
both supports effective integration and hinders the creation of Filipino ethnic identity among
SGFAs. In essence, cultural retention is frequently undervalued among SGFA parents.

D). How does being a Filipino shape your political self-concept?

− Because of colonization, Filipinos lack a distinct identity, and what they do have now are
borrowings from Spanish and American influences — this is how most educated Filipinos identify
their own identity. Filipino identity is in change, as are other people's identities.
