What is CueThink?

CueThink is software that allows users to collaborate on math problems. Their focus is
improving problem-solving and collaboration skills for learners. By taking a four-phase approach
to learning; understand, plan, solve, and review and sentence starters, CueThink encourages
learners to reflect on their learning process. CueThink also uses checklists to keep learners
organized. Students post their solutions to Thinklets, where discussion is encouraged between
students regarding the solution process and course content.

Strengths

Weaknesses

With any product that relies on technology to function, CueThink is inoperable if technology
fails or if learners do not have access to the internet at home. Another weakness of this
application is that students may be less engaged while solving math problems online instead of
working them out using a pencil and paper. Lastly, this application is only helpful for math
material, designed explicitly for math learners and educators.

Application: Leveraging Technology to Facilitate Collaboration

CueThink is applicable to classroom activities, exercises and while learning content. A few
examples are:

 Math
o Homework: Instead of using textbook questions, you can set up questions for
students to complete online. This is also beneficial for absent students and for
studying for assessments.
o Group Assignments: students can use this software to complete group work as
they can easily collaborate.
o Peer Assessing Activities: Using this software during the learning phase, students
can collaboratively assess other students' understanding of the content and
provide additional support and solutions if they have incorrect answers (on
formative assessment activities).

o Reflection Activities: Have students complete flipped learning so I could do

activities in class. I would ask student to post reflections on their Thinklets, and
instruct other students to comment on another peer's Thinklet. This activity
encourages collaboration with learning the content associated with the course.
