Socialization

Educational Institutions

 Parents and peer groups are not the only agencies of the socialisation in
modern societies.
 Every civilised society therefore has developed a set of formalised
agencies of education (schools, colleges and universities) which have a
great bearing on the socialisation process.
 The educational institutions not only help the growing child in learning
language and other subjects but also in still the concept of time,
discipline, team work, cooperation and competition.
 In this way, the educational institutions come next to the family for the
purpose of socialisation of the growing child.
Mass Media

 The mass media of communication, particularly Electronic media, play


an important role in the process of socialisation.
 The mass media of communication transmit informations and messages
which influence the personality of an individual to a great extent.
 In addition to this communication media has an important effect in
encouraging individuals to support the existing norms and values or
oppose or change them.
 They are the instrument of social power.
 the study of poetry, the study of new knowledge, crimes, Movie,
literature, knowledge, skills, fashion etc.
Community

 One of the big agency of socialization.


 Large number of socializing agencies are working for the
people in community which educate its member informally
 Man learn ways of life and norms through participating
and get experience by playing role in these agencies.

 In short major agencies of socialization are Family, school,


masjid , Madrassa, political parties, traveling agencies and
recreational institute.
 The child learns much from the family.
 After family his playmates and school wield influence on his
socialisation.
 After his education is over, he enters into a profession.
 Marriage initiates a person into social responsibility, which is
one of aims of socialisation.
 In short the socialisation is a process which begins at birth
and continues unceasingly until the death of individual.
Personality

 Personality is the production of socialization because habits develop


through socialization which is the central part of one personality
 The integration of psychological behavior in the individual including
sentiments, attitude, beliefs, ideas habits and skills that is mental and
emotional behavior
 Personality A person’s typical patterns of attitudes, needs,
characteristics, and behavior.
 A relatively stable set of characteristics that influences an individual’s
behavior
 The result of habit formation is personality
 While the repetitive behavior is habit of an individual
 Personality trait develop through participation in social life
 The behavior of individual is the expression of his personality
 Interaction with criminals make individual criminals, smokers and
interaction with good environment make person good i.g. “interaction
with intelligent and good students”
Types of Personality

Extrovert personality
 Highly socialized individual, like to live with others
 Like multi group membership
Introvert personality
 Opposite of extrovert personality, always lives in their
imaginary world usually lives in their room
Ambivert personality
 Between the two type
 Moderate socialize enjoying both condition
 Sometime like to live alone in their room while
sometime want to live with others
