1. What will you do in this occupation? (Summarize the duties and day-to-day activities in this job.)
 Prepare the kitchen by setting up culinary tools and supplies such knives, pans, and kitchen
scales.
 Examine each recipe and collect all required components.
 Prepare meals quickly.
 Give the cooks duties to do.
 Describe the daily specialties to the wait crew.
 Make sure the platings seem nice.

2. What are my interests and skills that could be useful in the occupation and career that you have
chosen?
 I love cooking/I’m good at cooking.
 I can work well under pressure.
 I can manage my time well; do everything in an orderly and timely manner.
 I can command a group of subordinates.
 I have a very keen eye when it comes to plating.

3. What is the salary or salary range for this position?

 The average salary for a Chef is Php 20,041 per month in Philippines. However, big
restaurants and hotels can offer up to Php 45,000 per month.
4. hat are the types of training needed for the position?
In high school or post-high school vocational training programs, chefs first take courses.
Others decide to pursue formal instruction at private cooking schools or enroll in college-level
culinary arts degree programs. Because the majority of employers in the industry today won't

accept less than hands-on training when it comes to hiring people who prepare the food for which
their establishments are known, apprenticeship (typically three years) and internship (often a year)
are almost always required for completion of these programs. When reviewing a prospective chef's
credentials, hotels, restaurateurs, cruise ships, and other businesses in need of professional chefs go
to the American Culinary Federation (ACF) and its certification.

5. How much education or training is needed for the position?


You need to be at least a college graduate of BSHM or BSHRM which is usually a 4-year
course. However, in the absence of a college diploma, TESDA also offers culinary certifications
that you can use as a reputable credential in your resume. In the absence of both, you need to at
least work as cook or line cook for about 2 years before becoming a chef; some required training
period may depend on the work establishment.
