1- GENERAL AND PRELIMINARIES

1.1 DESCRIPTION OF WORKS:


The work comprises the interior fit out, finishing, furnishing, equipment supply of AL MARKHIYA
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
The services covering these sections are interior finishing and including: wall finishes, floor finishes, RCP,
partitioning, Joinery, fixtures and equipment. The works also comprise relocation and amendment of existing
MEP, HVAC works, firefighting and fire alarm works.

1.2 GENERAL
The Conditions of Contract and the Drawings shall be read in conjunction with the Specifications (General and
Particular) and matters referred to, shown or described in the former are not necessarily repeated in the latter.
Notwithstanding the subdivision of the Specifications into various headings, every part is to be deemed
supplementary to every other part and the various parts are to be read with each other, so far as it may be
practicable so to do, or when the context so permits.
All work to be executed under this contract shall be carried out in accordance with the Qatar National Building
Specification amplified as amended by the following Project Specification Throughout the document all
references to Architect or Engineer shall be interpreted to mean Consultant.

1.3 STANDARDS, MATERIALS, GOODS AND WORKMANSHIP


In various places throughout this Specification and the Bills of Quantities reference is made to the Standards,
Specifications and By-Laws issued by the British Standards Institution and other similar organizations. These
references shall in every case be deemed to include the latest edition or issue of such Standards, Specifications
and By-Laws including all revisions, amendments and addenda subsequently issued. Where materials,
components and workmanship are not specified to be to British Standard and a standard exists in respect of
such materials, then the materials shall in all respects comply with the relevant and current British Standard. In
such cases where British Standards do not exist, the materials used shall be of the best type available and shall
generally be to the Engineer's satisfaction.
Materials, goods and workmanship shall be of the best quality of their respective kinds and, as far as
applicable, shall comply in every respect with the requirements of the quoted Standards, Codes of Practice and
Specifications or any other National Standard approved by the Engineer. Preambles and descriptions of
materials, goods and workmanship given in anyone section of the Specifications shall apply throughout the
whole of these Specifications unless otherwise described. The substitution of materials, goods, workmanship
and the like from that specified shall only be permitted with the written approval of the Engineer.
Where the quality of materials is not specified or nominated supplier is not named, the quality shall be the
best obtainable and workmanship shall be of the highest possible standard to the satisfaction of the Engineer.
The Contractor shall submit for the approval of the Engineer a list of names and addresses of the
manufacturers and trade-marks or names of all the various types of materials and goods he proposes to use in
the Works. This list shall include reference to the Specifications Clause or Article to which the materials and
goods supply. All materials used in the Works shall be brand new and of the appropriate quality all to the
Engineer's approval. Materials shall be obtained from approved sources and used in accordance with the
manufacturer's printed instructions. In the absence of specifications all materials shall comply with relevant
standards. The Engineer shall order the removal of any materials, which he has not approved.
No orders for materials and goods shall be placed until approval has been obtained for the materials and
goods from the Engineer.
The Contractor shall note that it is his responsibility to include in his price for the cost of the materials and
products as specified and no adjustment will be allowed should the alternatives be rejected by the Engineer.
The Contractor shall provide copies of relevant standard specifications mentioned in the tender documents
and copies of all drawing on site for the use of the Engineer.

The standards quoted in various documents shall be of latest revisions and will be the minimum requirements.
In case of different standards are quoted for similar objects, the standard specifying better performance shall
prevail.

1.4 EXISTING DRAWINGS


Contractor shall read, review and revise the existing Drawings Package and the existing and study the existing
site condition.

1.5 APPROVED MANUFACTURERS


Names of approved manufacturers and suppliers are given separately.
Reference to proprietary items or approved manufacturers shall be construed as establishing a standard of
quality and not as limiting competition.
The Contractor has to select materials only from this list to the approval of the Engineer.
If no approved sources of materials are specified in the tender documents, then the contractor may offer his
proposals, minimum 2 suppliers, in accordance with the specifications and best standards. The Engineer may
accept or reject the same proposing other manufacturers/suppliers name. The final decision on this matter
rests with the Engineer.

1.6 SAMPLES
The Contractor shall submit samples of all materials and goods for the approval of the Engineer before placing
order for supply.
Samples shall be submitted promptly in order not to delay the Works.
All work executed shall comply in all respects with the approved samples and the Engineer may reject any
work which, in his opinion does not comply with the approved samples The cost of providing all samples shall
be deemed to be included in the Contract Price.

1.7 MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS


All items or materials shall be delivered to the Site in the manufacturers original unopened containers with the
manufacturers brand and name clearly marked thereon.
All items or materials shall be assembled, mixed, fixed, applied, or otherwise incorporated in the Works in
accordance with the printed instructions of the manufacturer of the items or materials unless specifically
instructed otherwise by the Engineer.

1.8 ORDERING MATERIALS


The Bills of Quantities shall not be used as a basis for ordering materials and the Contractor is entirely
responsible for assessing the quantities and items of materials to be ordered. Upon receipt of approval for
submitted samples, the Contractor shall immediately place orders for all required materials and will be held
responsible for any delays occurring due to the late placing of such orders. Prior to finalizing material orders,
the Contractor shall advise the Engineer and await his written approval to complete the same.
The Contractor shall pay all expenses, taxes and dues, etc. incurred on the procurement of materials from
abroad.

1.9 SHOP DRAWINGS


The Contractor shall check and verify all site measurements and shall submit with sufficient promptness as to
cause no delay in the Works three blue line prints checked and approved by him, of all shop or setting
drawings and schedules required for the Works or which have specifically requested by the Engineer. The
Engineer shall check and approve with reasonable promptness such schedules and drawings for conformance
with the design concept of the Works and compliance with the provisions of the Contract Documents. The
Contractor shall make any corrections in the schedules and drawings as required by the Engineer and resubmit
further prints thereof until approved by the Engineer. The Engineer will arrange to issue the approved shop

schedules and drawings to the Contractor and the Contractor will be responsible for making all copies
necessary for his own use and the use of his subcontractors. The shop drawings shall be complete and shall
show the design, dimensions, materials used, finishes, type of shop paint and all other details and information
necessary and shall also show adjoining work and details of connections thereto.
Where adjoining work requires shop drawings, the Contractor shall prepare and submit composite shop
drawings, which shall show and define the work under all affected trades. If the Contractor installs work
before coordinating with other trades so as to cause interference with work of these trades, he shall make
changes necessary to correct the conditions at his own cost.
No changes shall be made by the Contractor to re-submitted shop drawings in excess of those corrections
noted by the Engineer in previously returned drawings, unless such new changes are brought to the attention
of the Engineer in a separate note on the shop drawings.
The Contractor shall be responsible for any error, discrepancy or omission in any drawing prepared by him or
on his behalf whether or not such drawing has been submitted to the Engineer, provided that such error,
discrepancy or omission is not due to any inaccurate data, drawing or information provided by the Engineer.
No work in the shop drawing shall be started and no material or equipment ordered until the Engineer has
approved the shop drawings. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to submit the shop drawings on a
schedule that allows reasonable time for checking and approval, and subsequent fabrication. Failure to submit
shop drawings in ample time for checking, correcting and rechecking will not justify delay in time of
completion of work.

The approval of the Engineer of shop drawings and schedules shall not relieve the Contractor from
responsibility for deviating from the drawings or Specifications, unless such deviations have the prior approval
of the Engineer, nor shall it relieve him from responsibility for errors in such drawings and schedules.
The term "Shop Drawing" as used herein shall include:
Manufacturer's standard drawings, descriptive literature, catalogues, brochures, performance and test data,
wiring and control diagrams, and all other descriptive data pertaining to materials, equipment and method of
construction. Catalogues, pamphlets, etc., shall be clearly marked in ink. Data of a general nature will not be
accepted.
The Contractor shall also check and verify all site measurements wherever requested by other specialist
contractors or by nominated or other subcontractors to enable them to prepare their own shop drawings and
pass on the information with sufficient promptness as will not in any way delay the Works. A copy of all such
information passed on shall be given to the Engineer.
On completion of the work, the Contractor shall submit 3 copies and one polyester sister print of 'as-built'
drawings showing the work as installed together with any other information necessary for the operation and
maintenance of the works.

1.10 SCAFFOLDING
The Contractor shall provide, erect, maintain, dismantle and clear away at completion proper and adequate
scaffolding including that required for subcontractor and suppliers. The Contractor shall be entirely
responsible for all safety precautions in connection with the scaffolding including the provision of all bracing,
scaffold boards, toe boards and the like and for its entire sufficiency for the work.
If, in the Engineer's opinion scaffolding is considered dangerous, then the Contractor shall rectify the same at
his own expense to the satisfaction of the Engineer.

1.11 PROTECTION
The Contractor shall cover up and protect the Works from the weather and from damage by his own or other
workmen performing subsequent operations. He shall provide all necessary dust sheets, barriers and guard
rails and clear away same on completion.
The Contractor shall take all reasonable and proper steps for the protection of all places on or about the works
which may be dangerous to his workmen or any other persons or to traffic. The Contractor shall provide and

maintain warning signs, red warning lamps and barricades as necessary in all such places and shall comply with
the Rules and Regulations of relevant Local Authority.
The Contractor shall provide and maintain adequate first aid facilities on site in accordance with the
requirements of relevant Local Authority.

1.12 SIGN BOARDS


The Contractor shall erect 2 no. approved name boards fully equipped with internal lighting in a position to be
agreed with the Engineer, and dismantled and removed on completion of the works.

The name boards shall be finished to the approval of the Engineer and shall bear at least the following
information in both English and Arabic script.
 Project colored perspective as issued by the Consultant
 Name of Project and its purpose
 Name of Client / Employer
 Names of Consulting Offices
 Name of Main Contractor
 Name of Sub Contractors
Details of any further name boards or advertisements that the Contractor may wish to erect on site shall be
approved by the Engineer.
The Contractor shall not use photographs or any details of his work in connection with the Contract in any
form of publicity or advertisement in any part of the world without having first obtained the Engineer’s
approval to its content and context.

1.13 WATER FOR THE WORKS


The Contractor shall make all necessary arrangements and provide all water for the proper execution of the
Works, together with all transport, temporary plumbing, storage and distribution, pay all charges and alter,
adapt and maintain temporary work as necessary and remove and make good at completion.

1.14 ELECTRICITY FOR THE WORKS


The Contractor shall make all necessary arrangements and provide all artificial lighting and power for the
proper execution and security of the Works and its protection, with all meters, temporary wiring and fittings,
pay all charges and alter, adapt and maintain the temporary work as necessary and remove and make good at
completion.

1.15 SECURITY
The Contractor shall maintain the security of the construction site by controlling access through enclosing
fences, barricades, and hoardings during times work is in progress and by locking hardware otherwise.
The Contractor shall maintain written records of:
 Third parties being admitted to and leaving the site.
 Vehicles entering and leaving the site.
 Material and equipment deliveries to the site and removals from the Site.
After the building is enclosed, maintain its security by adequate barriers at points of entry and by temporary
doors equipped with locking hardware.
Maintain security at all times when construction is shut down for any reason.
Employ sufficient/competent watchman to guard all position of the work site at all times. This shall include
times that construction personnel (not contractor’s administrative staff) are not on the site and until the
building is turned over to Employer.
Maintain sufficient illumination of the site so that security can be maintained at all times.

1.16 QUALITY
1.16.1 General
Quality Control shall include, but shall not be restricted to the following:
The Contractor’s provision and maintenance of a quality control program in conjunction with its sub-
contractor’s as reviewed by the Engineer. The program shall provide inspection and testing of products during
fabrication and installation as required by the Specification or as the Engineer may deem necessary to ensure
that work is performed in compliance with the contract. Such inspection and testing shall be performed at no
additional expense to the Employer. The provision of inspection and testing instruments, surveying equipment
and devices etc, are required to ensure proper performance of quality control.
The verification by affidavits and certification that specified products meet requirements of reference
standards as specified in applicable sections of the Specification are to be provided by the Contractor.
The testing, balancing and adjusting of equipment as specified in the applicable elevator, mechanical and
electrical Works.
The contractor shall submit for the Engineer’s review the name of the proposed independent laboratories to
conduct the tests specified in the Contract Documents. Laboratories associated with material suppliers will
not be acceptable. Provide necessary guarantees/warranties as specified in the applicable sections.

1.16.2 Site Mock-ups.


The Contractor shall provide mock-ups for review as required by sections of the Specification, and additional
mock-ups to be provided as and when directed by the Engineer and at no additional cost to the Employer.
Locate mock-ups where directed by the Engineer unless otherwise specified.
Reviewed mock-ups will establish the minimum acceptable quality of workmanship and will serve as the
standard by which subsequent work will be judged acceptable.
Resubmit mock ups until acceptance is given by the Engineer. Remove mock-ups that are designated as
unsuitable.
Do not process with work until the mock-up has been reviewed by the Engineer; only work which matches the
reviewed mock-up in all respects will be acceptable for the works.
The Contractor shall retain each reviewed mock-up for the duration of construction of the works and protect it
from damage. Remove it upon completion, or incorporate it in the works if so directed by the Engineer.

1.16.3 Quality Control Generally


The Contractor shall maintain continuity of quality control surveillance throughout fabrication of products and
execution of work.
The Contractor shall submit details of quality control tests and methods proposed for each section of the
works.
The Contractor shall perform inspection and testing in accordance with specified reference standards, or as
otherwise directed by the Engineer.
The Contractor shall calibrate measuring and testing devices periodically against certified standard equipment.
Calibration shall be verified by an inspection firm.

1.16.4 Quality Control of the Works on Site


The Contractor shall provide a control system to ensure quality control by phased inspections as follows:
 Perform inspections on a continuing basis as each part of the works commences and on a regular basis
following to ensure constant compliance with contract requirements.
 Provide samples of materials to be tested in required quantities at locations where testing is performed.
 Provide labor, instruments, testing devices, facilities and required shelter at the site.
 To determine ambient and material temperature by thermometers with Celsius scale.

 To determine relative humidity of air and moisture content of materials.


 To facilitate inspection of tests.
 For obtaining and handling of samples at site and plant.
Upon receipt of items at the job site the Contractor’s quality control representative shall be responsible for
noting damage suffered by them during shipment, and for directing that they be replaced.
The Contractor shall be responsible for protecting and maintaining items on the site free from damage during
storage, erection, installation and maintenance.
When it is discovered on inspection that work is proceeding with incorrect materials or methods, ensure that
corrective actions are taken immediately and that improperly completed work is replaced.
The Contractor shall ensure that quality control methods are implemented at the location of manufacture,
fabrication and assembly of items to be incorporated in the works to ensure that they conform to
requirements of the Contract Documents. This quality control shall not apply to proprietary catalogue
production products except as may be deemed necessary by the Contractor or if directed by the Engineering

1.16.5 Site offices for Contractor


The Contractor shall provide, maintain and clear away on completion of the Contract all necessary site offices,
canteens, messing and welfare facilities, temporary buildings, toilets and the like for site staff employed by the
Contractor and required by subcontractors and suppliers.
The Contractor shall obtain the approval of the Engineer of the proposed site layout, type and drainage
arrangement of all the buildings prior to erection of same. All buildings shall be supplied and maintained in
good condition and of neat appearance, all maintenance to same as instructed by the Engineer shall be carried
out at the Contractor's expense.
Under no circumstances shall overnight accommodation be permitted on Site except for the site watchman in
carrying out his duties.

1.16.6 Setting out


The Contractor shall be responsible for accurately setting out the Works to the specified positions, dimensions,
levels and building lines and also checking the site surveys for dimensional and level accuracy and reporting
any discrepancies before building work commences.
The Contractor shall provide the Engineer with all facilities, equipment and labor to enable him to check the
setting out and levels of the Works at all times. The checking of any setting out point, line or level by the
Engineer shall not in any way relieve the Contractor of his responsibility.
All setting out points, benchmarks, site rails, pegs and other survey points shall be clearly marked and
protected from damage or disturbance during the execution of the Works.

1.16.7 Defective work


Any defective work discovered before the expiration of the warranty period specified in the contract
documents will be rejected, whether or not, it has been previously inspected.
All rejected materials and any deviations from the working details in respect of setting out, correct lines and
levels, verticality, sizes, thicknesses of members and/or any other dimensional variation of any kind
whatsoever, shall be removed and reconstructed or otherwise rectified without undue delay to the approval of
the Engineer and the Contractor shall be responsible for all additional cost incurred.

1.16.8 Erection Equipment or other plant


If cranes or any other type of plant which places any load on the structure are proposed, all details of such
plant shall be submitted to the Engineer for approval before the work is actually commenced. If approved by
the Engineer and architecturally acceptable, permission may be given for the structure to be strengthened, in
order to carry out loads, and the Contractor shall be responsible for any resulting additional costs.

The Contractor shall be responsible for making good to the satisfaction of the Engineer any damage to the
permanent structure which may be caused by his plant and equipment

1.17 PERMANENT DRAINAGE, WATER AND ELECTRICITY CONNECTIONS, ETC.


The Contractor shall allow for arranging the permanent drainage, water connections and telephone
connections to the proposed project and shall be responsible for making all payments in connection therewith
other than Electrical Connection Charge.

1.18 CONTROL AND TEST EQUIPMENT TO BE PROVIDED BY CONTRACTOR


During the Contract, the Contractor shall provide, maintain and clear away on completion the following listed
items of control and test equipment. All items shall be to the Engineer’s approval.
The items listed hereunder are indicative and not limited to the items that the Engineer may request during
the Contract.
 Three sets of six numbers, 150mm cast iron or steel concrete cube moulds with all accessories.
 Maximum and minimum thermometers including replacements in the event of breakage.
 Metric weighing scales.
 Water tank with thermo-statically controlled heating and cooling for curing concrete test cubes.
 Concrete thermometer
 Surveying and levelling equipment.

1.19 HANDING OVER


Prior to handing over of the proposed project, the Contractor shall gain the approvals and respective
Completion Certificates from all the local government departments, authorities and the like, that the work has
been completed in accordance with their requirements.

KING’S SCHOOL DOHA FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT

2- FINISHING WORKS:

2.1 SUBMITTALS:
 Product Data: For each type of product indicated.
 Samples for Initial Selection: For components with factory-applied finishes.
 Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings for each product indicated for all finishing items method of installation.

2.2 TILES, CERAMIC PORCELAIN:


See schedules and drawings for project requirements.

2.2.1 Screed and backing:


Cement, sand and water shall comply in all respects with the requirements previously stated of these
specifications. All mortars for screeds and backings shall be mixed in efficient automatic mechanical mixes.
Screeds over 7cm in thickness shall be laid in two or more layers, each not exceeding 6 cm thick, add mesh for
walls if required to guarantee vertically and accurate plenitude.
Ceramic and porcelain is to be first quality, free from cracks and other defects, which could impair the
structural integrity, function or appearance. Each type of marble is to be uniform in Color and appearance
(except for normal natural variations) obtained from one stratum of one quarry and delivered in one shipment.
Mortar for bedding ceramic and porcelain shall be composed of 1 part Portland cement, 3 parts sand. Grout
for marble shall be composed of 1 part white Portland cement, 2 to 3 part sand and coloring agent, required,
to match ceramic.

2.2.2 Fixing Tiles and Slabs:


Ceramic floor and wall tiling shall be supplied by a Nominated supplier and fixed by the contractor; tiles shall
be stored on raised platforms and properly covered to protect them from moisture. Tiles shall not be allowed
to come into contact with water during storage.
Tiles shall be a bedded direct on floors and walls using cement screeds and backings to make up the finished
thickness. Tiles shall be laid with continuous even and straight joints not wider than 2mm, to true lines without
lapping and with a minimum of cutting. Work shall be so laid out that no tiles less than half tile size shall occur.
Bedding joints shall be well filled and grouted at least 12 hours after completion with a mortar mix tinted to
match the color of the tiles. All surplus grouting and mortar shall be cleaned off immediately. Ceramic tiling
shall be neatly cut and fitted around pipes, obstructions etc.
Samples of all types of ceramic tile sufficient to confirm consistency of shape, color and glazing shall be
submitted to Pro Designers for approval. Approved sample including fixing which will be taken as the control
samples for all subsequent work, are to be properly stored and displayed in a clean, dry place for the duration
of the contract.

2.3 SEMI SOLID ENGINEERED PARQUET:


Contractor shall not proceed with installation until areas are enclosed, permanent mechanical systems are
functioning satisfactorily, and interior relative humidity and temperature meet design requirements.

2.3.1 Subfloor Components:


Moisture Protection Membrane: polyethylene film to CAN/CGSB-S1.34-M86, 150 micrometres thick,
or as per manufacturer recommendation.
Cork Spacers
Fasteners: hot-dip galvanized nails suitable for substrates.
Sheathing Ply wood: 19 mm thick, tongue and groove edges, sheathing grade.

2.3.2 Accessories:
Adhesive: Resilient elastomeric, compatible with substrate and parquet flooring.
Threshold: of same species and grade as wood flooring

2.3.3 Finishing material:

 Finish: clear

 Wax: Paste wax

2.3.4 Installation, Plywood subfloor without sleepers:

 Apply moisture protection membrane over concrete. Lap joints minimum 300 mm and seal
with mastic or sheathing tape.

 Lay plywood sheathing over membranes, stagger end joints 1200 mm.

 Leave 10 mm gap at vertical surfaces, except provide 3 mm gap at doors and other
locations where wall base will not cover gap. Provide 5 to 10 mm gap between plywood sheets.

 Mechanically fasten plywood to concrete, using minimum 9 fasteners per 1200 x 2400
sheets.

2.3.5 Adhesive Application:


Apply adhesive in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

2.4 VINYL FLOORING FINISH


See schedules for project requirements.
Contractor shall not proceed with installation until areas are enclosed, permanent mechanical
systems are functioning satisfactorily, and interior relative humidity and temperature meet design
requirements
2.4.1 Preliminary Conditions:

The sub-floor must comply with DIN18299 and DIN18365 standards.


Maximum remaining humidity in the sub floor:
For mineral Anhydrite (AE) and Anhydrive tiles (AFE): <0.5%
For cement: <3.5%
For concrete and cement composite: <5%
For the best results install at room temperature between 18 and 20ºC.
Sub-floor Preparation:
 Sand blast or grind the sub floor to obtain rugged surface.
 Apply a primary dispersion or an epoxy paint coating layer according to the expected load
and allow adequate drying time.
 Apply a good quality 2mm filling layer and allow a drying time of 4 to 8 hours.
 Use an 80 grain size sand paper to obtain a smooth surface.
Floor Installation:
1. Do not use conductive glue. For optimum adhesion, use a good quality acrylic dispersion
glue/ equivalent and follow the supplier’s instructions.

2. The supplied copper strips are used to electrically connect two adjacent floor areas. The
wider strips should be positions close to walls and pillars.
3. Position the copper strips every 5 meters perpendicular to the seam underneath the length
seam.
4. Position the wide copper strips close to a wall or to a pillar for further connect to an
electrical ground by an electrician. A separate ground connection is needed for every 25-
35 square meters.
5. Do not use the floor for 24 hours, after that time the floor is fully usable.
6. Seams between adjacent areas are obtained by cutting the overlapping edges.
7. For waterproof seams ask for a welding rod.
We can only guarantee the quality of the products we supply. WE cannot guarantee that
the recommendations given in this document have been followed during the installation.

2.4.2 Maintenance Instructions: PG3

Cleaning after installation:


1. Sweep the floor
2. Wet mop with mild alkaline solution (IE Floor stripper, KS40GAL)
3. For machine cleaning, use red pads or medium hard brushes.
4. Make sure that no water or dirt remains on the floor.

2.4.3 Polishing after installation: Use ESD floor polish.

Daily maintenance: Wet mop using a high quality floor cleaner having neutral or mild alkaline
properties and follow the instructions. For high traffic areas use ESD floor polish where necessary.
Stain removal: Remove all stains immediately to avoid permanent marks on the floor.
Warning: Stain removers may damage the floor. When in doubt try the stain remover one small
hidden area. Use the chemical rather than mechanical means to remove persistent stains

2.5 SANITARYWARE
MUST BE OF CONTRACT QUALITY AND SUITABLE FOR COMMERCIAL USE.

FABRICATION TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH DPD SPECIFICATION

AS FOLLOWS:

1.Contractor to submit RAM for lead consultant’s approval prior to purchase.

2. Contractor to verify quantity and installation conditions. Contractor to provide

necessary sub frames required for installation.

3. Manufacturer warrants all products from all defects and guarantees to

replace any or all parts should they prove deficient within one year from date

of owner acceptance. All costs in this regard shall be borne by the

manufacturer.

4. Manufacturer shall supply with his products, manuals describing

recommended cleaning and protection method.

5. The Contractor shall use materials, goods and workmanship of good quality

and standards and be the best of their described kinds that are reasonably fit

for the purpose for which they are known to be required and shall, in all

cases, be approved for use in Qatar and conform to the local codes and

provisions of the latest version of the standards and code of practice

currently in force whether used singly or as part of an approved system.

2.6 CEILING
General
Acceptable manufacturer/supplier as specified in contract drawings and/or Interior Design
drawing set and specifications or an Owner approved equal. Approved equals and/or
substitutions will only be approved for Work if submitted and approved in accordance with
provisions of Section 01 25 00.

2.6.1 Metal Suspension Systems


Main beams and cross tees, base metal and end detail, fabricated from commercial quality
hot dipped galvanized steel complying with ASTM A 653. Main beams and cross tees are
double‐web steel construction with type exposed flange design. Exposed surfaces chemically
cleansed, capping prefinished galvanized steel in baked polyester paint. Main beams and
cross tees shall have rotary stitching.
Provide edge moldings and trim Type and profile indicated or, if not indicated,
manufacturer’s standard moldings for edges and penetrations that fit acoustical panel edge
details and suspension systems indicted; formed from sheet metal of same material and
finish as that used for exposed flanges of suspension systems runners.
a. For circular penetrations of ceiling, provide edge moldings fabricated to diameter required to
fit penetrations exactly.
b. For lay-in panels with reveal edge details, provide stepped edge molding that forms reveal of
same depth and width as that formed between edge of panel and flange at exposed
suspension member.
Extruded-Aluminum Edge Moldings and Trim: Where indicated, provide manufacturer’s
extruded-aluminum edge moldings and trim of profile indicated or referenced by

manufacturer’s product designations, including splice plates, corner pieces, and attachment
and other clips, complying with the following requirements:
a. Aluminum Alloy: Alloy and temper recommended by aluminum producer and finisher for
type of use and finish indicated, and with not less than the strength and durability properties
of aluminum extrusions complying with ASTM B 221/B 22M for alloy and temper 6063-T5.
b. Finish designations prefixed by AA comply with system established by the Aluminum
Association for designating aluminum finishes.
Accessories: Provide hanging clips, load connectors, intersection joint clips, cross tee adapter
clips, top lock main beam splice clips, hold down clips, structural wall angles and other
attachment devises as indicated in ASTM C635, Table 1 unless noted otherwise.

 Hanger Wire: Galvanized carbon steel wire, ASTM A 641, soft temper, pre-stretched, Class 1
coating, sized so that stress at 3-times hanger design load (ASTM C 635, Table 1, Direct Hung),
will be less than yield stress of wire, but provide not less than 12 gage.
 Accent Beams shall be factory-fabricated to sizes established by approved manufacturer's
shop drawings and confirmed by field dimensions. Accent beams are manufactured with
interior bracing as required to produce a rigid assembly

 C-Hangers: Suspension hangers that are direct-screwed to the panel and hang over the heavy
duty-grid. Hangers are made of spring-steel with phosphate pre-treatment and corrosion-
resistant coating.
 Torsion Springs and Saddle Clips: Two parts of a suspension system in which the torsion
spring is direct-screwed to the panel and compressed to attach to the saddle clip that is fitted
over the heavy duty-grid. Springs and clips are made of spring-steel with phosphate pre-
treatment and corrosion-resistant coating.
 All products provided for installation shall be the products specified by designer and/or
Architect unless noted otherwise. If material is no longer available or if a substitution is
required, then, refer to section 01 25 00 for Substitution Procedures
2.6.2 Examination

 Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

 Verify plenums have proper ventilation, especially in high moisture areas with no excessive
buildup of heat in the ceiling areas.

 Mechanical, electrical, and other utility services above the ceiling plane shall be completed.

 Do not proceed with installation until all wet work such as concrete, terrazzo, plastering
and painting has been completed and thoroughly dried out, unless expressly permitted by
manufacturer's printed recommendations.
 Examine materials before installation. Reject materials that are defective and/or
damaged .
 Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
 Verify that work of other trades, (Mechanical, electrical, and other utility services above
the ceiling plane), is completed before proceeding with installation

2.6.3 Installation
 Install materials in accordance with manufacturer’s printed instructions, and to comply
with governing regulations, fire resistance rating requirements as indicated

 Follow manufacturer installation instructions.

 Install tile with pattern to align with light fixture layout.

 Secure wire hangers by looping and wire-tying, either directly to structures or to inserts,
eyes crews, or other devices which are secure and appropriate for substrate, and which
will not deteriorate or fail with age or elevated temperatures. Do not attach to ductwork,
conduit, piping, or any other mechanical/electrical item.

 Install hangers plumb and free from contact with insulation or other objects within ceiling
plenum which are not part of supporting structural or ceiling suspension system. Splay
hangers only where required to miss obstructions and offset resulting horizontal force by
bracing, counters playing or other equally effective means.

 Install edge mouldings or type indicated at perimeter of acoustical ceiling area and at
locations where necessary to conceal edges of acoustical panels.

 Screw-attach mouldings to substrate at intervals not over 16 inch o.c. and not more than
3 inch from ends, levelling with ceiling suspension system to tolerance of 1/8 inch in 12'-
0". Miter corners accurately and connect securely.

 Install suspension system runners so they are square and securely interlocked with one
another. Remove and replace dented, bent, or kinked members.

 Install ceiling panels with undamaged edges and fitted accurately into suspension system
runners and edge mouldings. Scribe and cut panels at borders and penetrations to
provide a near, precise fit.

 Install hold-down clips in areas indicated, in areas required by authorities having


jurisdiction, and for fire-resistance ratings; space as recommend by panel manufacture’s
written instructions, unless otherwise indicated or required.

 Install panels in coordination with suspension system, with edges concealed by support of
suspension members. Scribe and cut panels to fit accurately at borders and at
penetrations.

2.6.4 Protection, Cleaning and Repairs


 Clean exposed surfaces of acoustical ceilings, including trim, edge moldings, and
suspension members. Comply with manufacturer's instructions for cleaning and
touch up of minor finish damage. Remove any ceiling products that cannot be
successfully cleaned and or repaired. Replace with attic stock or new product to
eliminate evidence of damage.

 Protect installed work during construction period to prevent staining and damage.

 Before final inspection, remove protective coverings.

2.7 PAINTING AND DECORATING


See schedules for project requirements.
All paint work is to be in accordance with 8S 6150, code of practice for painting.

2.7.1 Materials
Primers, Paints and Coatings
1. Emulsion paint shall be water-based acrylic or alkyd emulsion paint, drying to a hard, washable silk finish.
2. Oil paints shall be alkyd resin modified oil paint, drying to be a gloss finish.
3. Clear varnish shall be single component polyurethane varnish, moisture curing, drying to a gloss finish.
4. Textured paint: four coat application, including filling and stopping, comprising: primer/undercoat;
compatible external putty where required; splatter coat flattened to Engineer's approval; two topcoats, solvent-
based, acrylic.

2.8.2 Execution

ADHESIVE MOUNTING
Panels are to be installed per recommended adhesive instructions.
MAGNETIC FASTENERS
The magnetic fastener is applied to the panel before shipment. Permanent spanport is
required
HOOK AND LOOP FASTENERS
The loop side of the fastener is applied to the panel at time of shipment. The hook side is
attached to its mate, and when installing, the tape backing is removed and the panel is
positioned on the wall. Permanent support is required.
CONCEALED SPLINES
Panels with concealed spline attachment are provided with kerfs along the edges of the
panels. The spline then inserts into one panel and is mounted onto the wall. Adjoining panels
are inserted into the remaining half of the spline.
MECHANICAL CLIPS
The panel clips are mounted onto the panels at the time of shipment. The wall clips are
installed on the wall at the location established by the position of the panel clips or wall bars.
IMPALING CLIP
The impaling clips are screwed directly to the wall with the prongs extending outward. The
Glass fiber acoustical panel is positioned and pressed firmly onto the clip. Locking Adhesive is
recommended with this clip mounting.

2.8.3 ACOUSTICAL METAL PANELS (ceiling)


Description: Perforated metal shell and nonflammable acoustical material.

3- CARPENTARY, JOINERY AND IRONMONGERY

3.1 TIMBER
All timber used for the works shall be of the best quality, free from any decay and insects, and subjects to the
approval of the Architect. Any timber piece not meeting with the requirement of the Architect shall be
removed from the site. The Architects decision in this respect shall be final and binding on the Contractor.
The contractor may use any timber for temporary works and shall be entirely responsible for the safety and
sufficiency of such works.
Hardwood shall be first quality seasoned red meranti or as approved by the Architect.
All timber shall be sawn square straight and true, and shall hold the full dimensions shown on the Drawings.
Size shown on the Drawings is finished size unless otherwise specified.
Structural timber shall be grade 52/50 or equivalency and shall be painted with 2 coats of clean wood
preservative such as Cuprinol or equivalent unless otherwise directed by the Architect.

3.1.1 Seasoning
All timber shall have moisture content acceptable according to its nature and usage as approved by the
Architect.

3.1.2 Protection
All joinery and timber shall be protected during the course of construction as directed by the Architect.

3.1.3 Plywood & Blackboard


Plywood shall be obtained from an approved manufacturer. Plywood shall be bonded in phenel formaldehyde
and shall have commercial or decorative face veneer as specified. Selection and matching of veneer shall be to
the Architects satisfaction. Plywood shall be exterior grade for all uses unless otherwise stated.
Blackboard shall be generally to the specifications for plywood above.

3.1.4 Softwood
Softwood shall be used wherever specified with the exception that pith shall not be permitted on the external
faces of external joinery.

3.1.5 Hardwood
Hardwood shall be of approved quality. Samples of each type of hardwood of representative sections for use in
the work shall be previous submitted by the contractor for the Architects approval.

3.1.6 Chipboard
Chipboard shall be to B.S 2604 part 2

3.1.7 Adhesives
Adhesives for exterior use shall be synthetic resin type complying with B.S.1204 part 1, type MR.

3.1.8 Decorative Laminated plastic Sheet


Plastic laminates shall be 1.5 mm Formica or equivalent in approved color and pattern and shall be fixed with
approved adhesives strictly to the instruction of the manufacture.
Balancing laminated shall be fixed to the reverse side of plywood or blackboard to which Formica is applied.
Laminates to be bent to profile shall 1.3 mm, Formica post-forming grade and shall be fixed strictly in
accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

3.1.9 Joinery
All joinery works shall be carried out in accordance with Drawings and the best workmanship.
All joinery work shall be prepared and framed up as soon as details are received but shall not be glued and
wedged until it is required for use.
Butted, screwed, nailed or halved joints will not be accepted.
Joinery which does not require to be built-in as the work proceeds shall be brought to site for fixing as late as
possible to avoid damage. Should any joinery warp or sag more than 1.5 mm, of show any other defect before
the end of the Defects Liability Period the work shall be removed and new work fixed in place together with
any other work affected by the replacement at the entire expense of the contractor.
For all joinery work not required to be built-in as the work proceeds, all dimensions shall be taken from the
structure as actually built.
All skirting, architraves and other joinery shall be accurately cut and fitted to the actual contours of the surface
against which they are built.
Allow built –in joinery shall be fixed plump and true and shall be temporarily protected during construction
against damage. All built in frames or grounds will be secured to block work concrete by a sufficient number of
non-corrosive metal holdfasts 40 mm x4 mm x 250 mm long where grounds are specified frames shall be
counter – sunk screwed to them . Wood screws shall be of brass conforming to B.S. 1210 and shall have dome-
heads with cup-washers wherever directed.

3.1.10 Priming
Unless the Architect has permitted shop-priming as described hereunder, all joinery shall be delivered to the
site before priming and shall be primed immediately after inspection and approval. If the contractor wishes to
prime the joinery in the shop, he should apply in writing to the Architect and state the shop's location before
any priming work. The Architect will grant permission if conditions in the shop are suitable and that it is
practicable to arrange for the adequate inspection of the joinery before priming. No claim will be allowed for
an extra cost if such permission is withheld. If the Architect gives consent, the contractor shall provide the
Architect with Seven working days' notice of when the joinery will endure painting and decoration. The primer
for internal joinery shall be as per the manufacturer recommendation of the following site applied coats.
The glued surface shall not endure any priming. (Corrected paragraph)

3.1.11 Arises
Before painting, all arises exposed in finished work shall be rounded and rubbed down with abrasive paper to
minimum 1.5 mm radius, while those of horizontal edges (sills, transom, etc.) exposed to the weather shall be
a minimum 3 mm radius unless otherwise specified to be of greater radius.

3.2 PARQUET:
Contractor shall not proceed with installation until areas are enclosed, permanent mechanical systems are
functioning satisfactorily, and interior relative humidity and temperature meet design requirements.

3.2.1 Subfloor Components:


Moisture Protection Membrane: polyethylene film to CAN/CGSB-S1.34-M86, 150 micrometres thick,
or as per manufacturer recommendation.
Cork Spacers
Fasteners: hot-dip galvanized nails suitable for substrates.
Sheathing Ply wood: 19 mm thick, tongue and groove edges, sheathing grade.

3.2.2 Accessories:
Adhesive: Resilient elastomeric, compatible with substrate and parquet flooring.

3.2.3 Finishing material:

3.2.4 Installation, Plywood subfloor without sleepers:


 Apply moisture protection membrane over concrete. Lap joints minimum 300 mm and seal
with mastic or sheathing tape.
 Lay plywood sheathing over membranes, stagger end joints 1200 mm.
 Leave 10 mm gap at vertical surfaces, except provide 3 mm gap at doors and other
locations where wall base will not cover gap. Provide 5 to 10 mm gap between plywood sheets.
 Mechanically fasten plywood to concrete, using minimum 9 fasteners per 1200 x 2400
sheets.

3.2.5 Adhesive Application:


Apply adhesive in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

3.3 CUSTOM MADE FURNITURE:


3.3.1 Cabinet interiors
The cabinet parts are to be 3/4" thick 20 kg density industrial board with a thermofused melamine surface in
White or premium quality Oak veneer plywood for the construction of the cabinet.

3.3.2 Cabinet end panels:


Cabinet end panels to be 3/4" thick material with a melamine interior standard. All finished/exposed. All
finished/exposed cabinet ends are to be wood veneer. Cabinet ends to be fastened to the floor (and tops) with
a combination of wood dowels and confirm at screws.

3.3.3 Shelves
Shelves to be made of 3/4" or as per drawings material with Oak veneered plywood

3.3.4 Cabinet Backs:


Cabinet backs to be made of 1/4" material with veneered plywood surface. The backs are to be set in 11/16"
from the very back of the cabinet. The hanging rails to be located behind the cabinet backs, providing a tidy
and uncluttered interior.

3.3.5 Cabinet edge banding:


The edge banding for the cabinet parts to be in PVC matching the interiors of the cabinets and PVC matching
the exterior of the cabinets

3.3.6 Cabinet sup base


HC Leg Levellers with 3/4" thick front covers matching the exterior wood of the cabinets.

3.3.7 Hardware
All hardware kits to contain a combination of concealed hinges with 110 degree openings, 6 way adjustment
and overlay.

3.4 FLUSH DOORS


Internal and external flush doors shall be 44 mm finished thickness and of overall size as described, and shall
be fitted to give a uniform clearance of not more than 3 mm all round.

They shall be constructed to comply with the following clauses of B.S.459 part 2, 4 timber 5 facings, 6 plywood,
11 hinges, 15 finishes. All necessary blocks for hardware, etc. shall be provided.
Flush doors shall be stored in a horizontal position in a weather-proof shed.

3.5 IRONMONGERY
All doors must be provided with complete ironmongery (Lever handles, door stops, kick plate and door closer).
The contractor shall submit samples of all ironmongery for the Architects approval before ordering. Approved
samples shall be retained on the site as the standard for subsequent deliveries. And shall ultimately be used in
the works.
All ironmongery is to be supplied with matching screws and fixed according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The contractor shall, at his own cost, replace all ironmongery shall be carefully protected and wrapped during
construction.

3.6 GLASS DOORS


Glazed door leaves with stainless steel frame 50 mm thickness with mitred corners and integrated
pivot, allow rubber in frames for sound insulation as per drawings and details.

3.6.1 Frames
Combine doors with glass partitions including, frames, hinges and locking mechanisms.

3.7 GLASS PARTITION:


3.7.1 GENERAL
Non-carrying inner glass partition wall, connected to the building through a steel U-section. The glazing to be
inserted into a system u-runner.
The system u-runners is to be fixed to the building through screws. Rubber gaskets to be pushed into the u-
runner and stay put through a clip technique.

3.7.2 PRODUCT
Flexible partitioning system as a single glazed all glass partition where the glass is fixated in steel sections in
the circumference.
Endless glazing without posts and without a fixed module width, adjustable for each room heights, the glass
wall must be compatible with 100 mm thick solid system walls where required.
Demounting of the partition without any loss of material must be possible as well as replacement of individual
glasses.
An individual design must at any time be obtainable through the use of different glass types and special
surfaces.

4- FURNITURE AND EQUIPMENT


4.1 GENERAL
Contractor shall supply and mount and install all furniture and equipment as described in schedules
from the specified manufacturer and suppliers.
Contractor shall install the furniture when the site is fully operational and in a controlled ambient
temperature of the site, not more than 25 C.
Contractor shall submit all related warrantees and manuals related to the furniture.
All furniture delivery, storing and assembly to be done as per manufacturer recommendations
It is not necessary to specify that particular line of furniture, however we will expect the quality of
your submitted “equal” specification to meet or exceed these standards and a complete product line
catalog including fabric, color choices, styles, and options must be included with this bid. A detailed
specification that describes the product’s fabrication, materials, construction, finishes, dimensions,
and operational details must be submitted with the bid. Any and all alternate submissions will be
subject to a sample to be provided within seven days of the request

Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment and furniture for a complete installation as
indicated on the drawings and specifications for items tagged.

The furniture contractor’s written response to this IFB shall include the following:

• Lead time for each product.

• An itemization of the manufacturer’s respective warranties and their guarantees for the
products and services.

All furniture, foam and fabric must meet applicable fire codes; additional testing and treatment for
compliance is the responsibility of the Furniture Contractor. Costs for such treatment shall be
included in the quotation. All costs associated with fire code requirements must be included in the
bid price.

Verify all quantities and dimensions. Correct quantities shall be the responsibility of the Contractor.

Verify all upholstery material requirements with manufacturers.

Verify all model numbers with all manufacturers.

Dimensions shall be figured rather than determined by scale or rule.

Contractor shall bring any discontinued products, shortages, and discrepancies within the Contract
Documents to the attention of the Architect prior to proceeding with the work.

All submittals for each item must be approved by the Architect prior to purchase, ordering,
manufacturing, fabrication or production.

All upholstery core and fitting material shall be fire retardant and should in all respects comply with
local fire resistance and flammability requirements.

The Contractor shall coordinate with the Client regarding the Client’s requirements for extra stock of
any items.

Contractor shall note that generic mock-ups shall be required for submittal to the Interior Designer
for approval and to establish standards for firmness, crowns, and fullness, as follows:

• Loose seat cushion for fully upholstered items

• Loose back cushion for fully upholstered items

• Throw pillow

Submittals shall be reviewed and approved prior to fabrications, manufacturer or production.


Contractor shall consult with the Interior Designer to determine specific mock-up requirements prior
to commencing with the Work.

All workmanship and products shall be guaranteed against defective parts, materials and finish
under normal usage for a minimum period of one year from the date of final acceptance.

Product warranties and guarantees of manufacturers exceeding one year shall remaining effect for
the expressed duration.

Warranties shall not commence before Owner acceptance of installed furniture.

A minimum one (1) year warranty shall be provided by the Furniture Contractor on all installed items
with regard to service.

The contractor shall make repairs or render service within ten (10) working days from notice by the
Public Facilities Department or the Boston Public Library.

The Furniture Contractor shall provide any replacements within fifteen (15) working days from
notice.

All furniture and related components shall meet or exceed all appropriate established code
and standards regarding durability, performance, life safety and inflammability.

4.2 CABLE MANAGEMENT


Contractor shall provide to all furniture desks and table a fully comprehensive cable management
system from the same supplier, subject to the consultant approval.

4.3 GENERAL FURNISHING SPECIFICATIONS


4.3.1 QUALITY ASSURANCE
Flammability and Code Requirements:
Overall Product Quality: All furnishings shall be of the highest commercial standard of manufacture
and finish. Finishes shall be durable and be able to withstand normal and customary use for projects
of this type and exposure to foods and liquids.

4.3.2 SUBMITTALS
General: Contractor shall submit required submittals to the Architect in accordance with the General
.Specifications and the Special Conditions

Submittal Requirements:

a. Shop Drawings: Show in detail materials, dimensions, and thickness, methods of assembly,
attachments, relation to adjoining work, and other pertinent data and information. For upholstered
furnishings, show layout allowing for fabric repeats and widths.
b. Product Data: Manufacturer’s specifications, installation instructions, and information
specifically pertinent to the Work.
c. Samples: Following listed samples; additional, if specifically requested should be submitted
with (7) business days.
 Fabric and Leather: One linear foot of each color and type specified from actual dye
lot to be used in the Work.
 Stone
 Metal
 Paint, lacquer, and decorative finishes
 Plastic
 Plastic laminate
 Wood
 Glass
 Paper
 Furnishings hardware

4.3.3 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING


Wrap or crate furnishings to prevent damage during shipping and installation. Keep furnishings
under cover at all times.

Do not deliver furnishings until spaces in which furnishings are to be installed are ready for
installation or until special storage space has been made available and approved by the Client or
Architect.

Provide warehousing and insurance for furnishings until installed or until on-site storage is made
available.

 Store the work in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, with seals and labels intact
and legible.

 Store sensitive work in weather-tight indoor enclosures; maintain within temperature and
humidity ranges required by manufacturer’s recommendations.
 Arrange storage to provide access for inspection; periodically inspect to assure products are
undamaged and are maintained under required conditions.
 After installation, provide covers to protect the work from damage from traffic and
construction operations, remove when no longer needed.
Promptly inspect merchandise to assure that products comply with requirements, quantities are
correct, and the work undamaged. Notify Architect of any discrepancies or damage.

 No damaged work will be acceptable; items with minor defects or scratches on exposed
surfaces will be considered as damaged.
 Notify Architect immediately when replacement or delivery of missing items will delay
installation schedule.
Tagging (Side marking): Contractor shall finish identification code for furnishings which will identify
its final location.

 Tag each piece of furnishings identifying final location in Project.


 Tag furnishings prior to delivery in manner permitting easy removal without damaging
finishes and in locations that are easily seen and read.
 Upon delivery verify item tagged had been provided as specified and in its perfect condition.
 Do not remove tags until instructed by Architect.
One month prior to delivery or move in contact manufacturers to confirm scheduled shipping and
delivery dates.

 Continue checking with factory on a weekly basis until installation of goods.


 Intention of above is to assure up-to-date information on furniture status, thus avoiding
sudden last-minute revisions.

4.3.4 SCHEDULING
Submit outline of time required to receive various items from each manufacturer. Indicate total
hours required to install, assuming all merchandise is received by the Contractor.

Phase delivery and installation of furniture to coincide with completion of space so Owner can utilize
areas as soon as possible.

Confirm item description with manufacturer’s numbers and Furnishings Specification; in event of
discrepancies, inform Architect.

If established move-in dates cannot be met by specified manufacturer’s delivery dates, inform
Architect of possible solution or alternatives.

If, within one month after issuing purchase order, written acknowledgement has not been received
from factory, contact factory and obtain written acknowledgement.

4.3.5 JOB CONDITIONS


Existing conditions: Contractor will be held to have visited building site and to be thoroughly familiar
with all discernible existing conditions under which the Contractor shall be obliged to operate and
conduct the work.

Staging facilities: Staging area will be designated by Contractor as scheduling permits.

Temperature and humidity: Maintain room temperature at minimum 60 degrees F or at least 24


hours prior to installation; relative humidity shall be that at which area is to be maintained.

Protection: Protect installed furnishings, existing construction, and adjacent finishes from damage;
satisfactory repair surfaces damaged by work under this section. Provide security measures to
protect completed work. Close-off completed areas to traffic until furnishings are accepted.

4.4 EXECUTION
4.4.1 Preparation
Obtain dimensions affecting work from site.

Observe Project progress to deliver furniture for areas as areas are ready to receive furniture

4.4.2 Installation
Set furniture and accessories level, plumb, spare and true.

 Attachment joints: Hairline, without gaps or spaces.


Assemble units including accessory components in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

Install items in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions by workers skilled and familiar with
furnishings installation.

Coordinate installation of telephone and electrical cords in furnishings as required.

Attach files and shelving as required for seismic bracing.

Place accessories in designated areas just prior to acceptance of area by Client.

4.4.3 Adjusting and Cleaning


Adjust doors, drawers, hardware, fixtures, and moving or operating parts to function smoothly and
correctly.

Clean furniture including sides, backs and hardware: vacuum fabrics.

Remove crating and packing materials from site on same day furniture is delivered or, if furniture is
stored at project, on same day as installed.

4.4.4 Samples
On request and without cost to the Owner, any bidder shall submit such full-size samples of his or
her finishes and/or equipment which in the opinion of the Owner, Architect, and/or Interior Design
Consultant are necessary to judge adequately the character, quality and construction of his product,
and failure to comply within the time prescribed shall be deemed sufficient grounds for rejection of
the bid. Samples submitted by a Successful Bidder may be impounded by the Owner for the period

of the contract for comparison of materials delivered to the job site to assure they conform in every
aspect to the approved samples submitted. Materials delivered that fail to conform to the approved
samples shall be rejected.
